Just over a year ago, whilst out on my bike, I was hit by a car. The only reason I’m still here to tell the tale is because I was wearing a helmet. I owe my life to it. Yet I still see so many people out cycling, or even kids on scooters, with no helmet. We’re all guilty of believing “it won’t happen to me” but at this time when we’re all trying our best to look after ourselves and stay healthy, it bewilders me that people would put themselves at risk.

Wearing a helmet, like washing your hands, might just save your life.

It’s all about the speed 💨 at the moment! Super happy with 3rd overall in today’s Metasprint duathlon and 1st in my age group. Enjoyed plenty of post race chin wag where I was extolling the virtues of courtesy of which kept us all going so well. Big thank you as always to my top coach and for keeping me in the best shape possible amongst all the Coronavirus-induced race cancellations and postponements. Now just keep everything crossed the next race goes ahead as planned... 🤞🏻Stay healthy everyone!

Gong Xi Fa Cai! Happy Chinese New Year everyone! 2020 is the year of the rat and being the first of the 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac, this is meant to be a year of new beginnings and renewals. Whatever that means in reality, it engenders positive vibes and good feelings in me so bring it on!

I’ve been seeing in the new year like a rockstar! Well, with the voice of one anyway. I’ve been laid low with the lergy and even though I’m feeling better now, still sound like the lead singer of a heavy metal band. After some rest and recovery, I’m slowly getting back in to training and as per coach’s instructions, with reduced intensity. Oh, and I’ll be sticking to romantic ballads for the time-being 😂

8 months ago I spent over an hour lying in the road waiting for the ambulance to come after being knocked off my bike by a car. My right shoulder was injured pretty badly and still now the reflexes in my right arm are diminished. To try and find out why, today I spent 2.5 hours lying in an MRI scanner with only the sounds of a pneumatic drill and a stuck techno CD for company. Blimey did I need the coffee! I think I passed the test

Not sure if I’m soaked in sweat or because of the rain! Cooler temps here in Singapore make for quicker run times so felt good running this morning. Another session ticked off ✔️

Last week was post-race recovery week so a reduction in training volume, frequency and intensity. Whilst essential to allow the body to recover and repair, I missed the daily double hit of endorphins! Life challenges seemed a bit harder to deal with and my sunny disposition had a few clouds blocking the rays. So despite the rain, it feels good to get back in the pool and rack up a few kms. Being my number one sport, swimming gets me out of a funk like nothing else 🏊‍♀️
