FOR SALE: 2015 BMW R1200 GS - Pristine Condition

Note: This is not a show bike.

Unbeatable reliability, efficiency, and handling on-road and off-road.

The places I rode this bike to speak for itself. It's been meticulously maintained and parts replaced/upgraded.

Highlights:

- Cape Town to Singapore - proven reliability on the toughest routes
- I have prepared it for the next big adventure (unfortunately I decided to test ride another bike)
- Worldwide support - BMW's global network has your back. Even in Guatemala you can find BMW support centre.

If you're looking for a bike you can enjoy riding on and off-road, it's the GS.

You can message or WhatsApp me.

I made some time last Saturday to run personal errands and in-between, I visited Kenny Keong ( Fabricator) to fix my panniers rack (Kenny fixed the boxes some weeks ago). You know his work, always top and I love it. Even though if I have to wait for weeks, I gladly would.

If you need anything to fabricate for your bike, drop Kenny a DM

One of my proudest riding moments: standing in front of The Britannia Monument in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England. Never thought I'd make it here! The 1817-1819 commemorative tower honours Admiral Horatio Nelson.

Huge thanks to local riding friend Ray Hall Qpm for encouraging me to visit and gifting me tyres!

Great Yarmouth's a hidden gem - if you're in the UK, add it to your list!

I believe if you followed me on my , you know how Max and I met. Max rode home from Kuala Lumpur to Switzerland, and it was in Osh, Kyrgyzstan, that we met at a street cafe between his hotel and my guesthouse.

I was brainstorming on how to resolve my online banking when Max approached me to ask if the 4x4 truck parked outside was mine. I thought it would be good to have another overlander to have a chat with, and we introduce each other, and through Max, I got to exchange a few hundred USD to the local currency.

Since we both went the opposite way, we took the opportunity to exchange "route information," and when I heard Max told me about the route I am taking, my jaw dropped.

"Off-road jungle, rockfall mountain pass!". All in one sentence. It was scary for him, and I found that out 3 days later. It was one of my scariest rides!

Fast forward, Max is here in Singapore for the week for business, and we did a quick "reunion" over dinner last night.

The year 2025 holds profound significance for me, marking the culmination of a lifelong aspiration. My journey began in 2017, when I embarked on a Ride Around the World (RTW) motorcycle adventure, a dream that seemed insurmountable given my humble upbringing. Growing up, basic necessities were a concern, and the concept of a holiday was foreign until I entered the workforce.

Fortunately, I secured a stable position as an interior designer with a prestigious global partnership, eventually forging a close professional relationship with Phillips Connor, the esteemed Managing Director. Despite these successes, my passion for riding remained unfulfilled due to work commitments. A career shift presented an opportunity to rekindle my travel aspirations, when I was invited to provide sports services to schools in collaboration with the Singapore Sports Council (SG SPORTS).

During school holidays, I would embark on solo journeys into Malaysia's jungles on my Yamaha WR200, seeking to experience the thrill of navigating uncharted territories. To enhance safety, I transitioned to driving a 4x4 vehicle. However, the maintenance costs proved prohibitive, leading me to consider alternative modes of travel. I subsequently opted for cycle touring, recognizing that it would not only be more cost-effective but also foster personal growth through reliance on mental and physical endurance. This decision culminated in a notable achievement: becoming the first person to cycle around Borneo, an accomplishment that inspired me to author a book detailing my experiences.

Following my Borneo adventure, I felt an insatiable urge to continue exploring the world by bicycle, compelling me to confront my fears and push beyond my perceived limits. Embarking on a new journey, I pedaled from Singapore towards Nordkapp giving myself 12 months. During this endeavor, I sustained an injury to my left knee while ascending a steep incline in Laos, but persevered, ultimately reaching Lijiang, China. Believing this marked the end of my touring days, I returned home and, in an effort to alleviate "touring withdrawal," I resumed riding my 26-year-old Honda Transalp, without any destinationto ride. It was then that my partner posed a poignant question: why not ride my motorcycle?

A proposal emerged to dust off my old Honda Transalp for an extended journey, a notion previously tempered by concerns over the age, parts and substantial costs associated with riding around the world. However, upon reassessing my resources, I determined that I possessed sufficient funds to undertake a scaled-back expedition, potentially reaching Europe, visiting Nordkapp, and proceeding to Germany to reconnect with my old friends.

This led to a re-examination of my original Round-The-World (RTW) Project, which has been reconfigured into manageable phases:
- Singapore to Nordkapp
- Alaska to Argentina
- South Africa to Singapore

I have ridden in snow, on ice, through the blizzards, deserts, storms, through Africa National Parks and all the obstacles thrown at me. Not forgetting through Columbia National Forest.

I am grateful I am still alive!

I am presently in the process of readjusting to life post-expedition, and I am grateful for the unwavering support of my family, sponsors, and friends, to whom I extend my sincere appreciation. Also to many riders who become friends all over the world and here at home.

As for future endeavors, while Mount Everest may be an ambitious aspiration, it remains a jest โ€“ for now.

For me, it's all about ๐˜€๐—ฎ๐—ณ๐—ฒ๐˜๐˜† & ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ท๐—ผ๐˜†๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด the ride.

1. Follow local posted speed limits โ€“ that's rule #1.

2. Slow down in ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—น๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ฒ๐˜€, ๐˜๐—ผ๐˜„๐—ป๐˜€ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜€ โ€“ 10 km/h slower, to be safe and ๐—ป๐—ผ๐˜ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ฒ ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ผ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ ๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€ ๐—ถ๐—ณ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚ ๐˜€๐—ฐ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜„ ๐˜‚๐—ฝ.
(there are places I did throttle up. Remote places like in Alaska, Baja California, Atacama, Autobahn in Germany, simply because there are no speed cameras and no other road users)

3. You're on tour, not in a rush. Take in the views, enjoy the journey!

4. Any ride, long or short, it's unpredictable โ€“ landslides, road closures, etc. Cut your journey short if needed and find a place to chill. Like that time in Peru โ€“ 4-hour landslide delay, we couldn't find a place to stay nearby, so we throttle up ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ฏ๐—น๐˜† to make it to our destination before dark.

5. Leave early, give yourself plenty of time. Stop for coffee, explore local markets, and snap pics.

Bottom line: Follow speed limits, slow down where needed, and throttle up
๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ฏ๐—น๐˜† when it's clear.

I heard a rider say he'd ride as fast as he could to save time & money... I hope and pray he makes it home safe.

Here is the raw truth from my rtw experience:
No matter how skilled, how seasoned, or how 'on' you feel โ€“ the road doesn't care.

Discipline, consistency, and responsibility are your best mates on two wheels riding long distance.
You need strategy, not speed and definitely not ego when riding your motorcycle long distance.
Stay safe, ride smart.
