In just under four months, .care is active in Singapore and Malaysia. That’s incredible!! YIN is a direct to consumer birth control subscription service that allows you to get a birth control pill prescription through a digi consultation.

I spoke with Umeera, co-founder of YIN, who said that previous healthtech experience of her co-founder helped a lot in securing contracts and having everything fall into place in such a short amount of time.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome or PCOS is often undiagnosed, but common. It is a hormone imbalance that can affect ovulation and often results in irregular periods.

Insulin-resistant
Decreased ability to properly manage your blood sugar. Stimulates your pituitary gland to make more luteinising hormone.

Inflammatory
Inflammation in the body e.g. irritable bowel syndrome, fatigue, joint pain, eczema, food sensitivities.

Post-pill
PCOS symptoms after taking hormonal birth control

Adrenal
If DHEA-S is your only high androgen this can indicate an adrenal type of PCOS as DHEA-S is your adrenal androgen (testosterone is produced in the ovaries). With this one you want to check your prolactin levels and to rule out another condition that presents similarly to PCOS called nonclassic congenital adrenal hyperplasia (NCAH). The adrenal type of PCOS is driven by an abnormal stress response versus an impaired insulin or blood sugar response as seen in the insulin-resistant type of PCOS.

Hidden cause
Thyroid abnormality also affects ovulation and can worsen insulin resistance, deficiencies in vitamin D or zine because your ovaries need these ovaries.

Lean
It’s possible to have PCOS in a lean body too.
