I was catching up on some work over coffee today, at a humble dim sum place - busy, bustling, baskets stacking up, staff weaving between tables, Cantonese songs playing softly in the background. It had the feel of Hong Kong, where dim sum has always been about "tan cha" - you sit, you chat, the pot gets refilled, and waiting time was never really something anyone thought about.

But next to my cup sat a small hourglass, quietly turned over the moment my order went in - a visible promise of how long I'd wait before my food arrived. In a tradition built on unhurried afternoons, someone had still chosen to hold themselves to a standard. Nobody was watching over their shoulder. They simply cared enough to.

That's what resonates with me, and it's exactly how I want my own clinic and service to be. In obstetrics and gynaecology, "on time" isn't just a nicety - it's the difference between a patient who feels seen and one left waiting, wondering, worrying. Every touchpoint on a patient's journey, from the wait for an appointment to the wait for results, is a chance to show how much we respect the person on the other end of it.

The best clinics, like the best kitchens, don't leave that to chance. They design for it - and take pride in guarding it, every single day. 💛

What's a small thing that's ever made you feel truly taken care of, whether at a clinic, a café, or anywhere else? I'd love to hear your stories in the comments.

Observed today, at a busy dim sum restaurant: baskets stacking up, staff weaving between tables - the kind of place where "just wait for it" would be the expected norm.

Yet beside every order sat a small hourglass, turned the moment it was placed. A visible, unprompted commitment to how long a customer should wait.

It's a standard we hold close at our practice. In obstetrics and gynaecology, timeliness is never just a courtesy - it shapes whether a patient feels seen and reassured, or left to wait and wonder. From the first appointment to post-delivery follow-up, every touchpoint in a patient's journey is a chance to demonstrate that same discipline.

The best clinics, like the best kitchens, don't leave this to chance. They design for it, and hold themselves to it - every day, for every patient.

Best takeaway bag ever. 😊

In a world that often celebrates the big milestones, it is easy to overlook the little things.

Yet, it is often the smallest gestures that have the greatest impact.

A smile on a paper bag.
A brief moment of lightness.
A quiet reminder to pause amidst a busy day.

Sometimes, all it takes is something this simple to lift the spirit and change the tone of the day.

And perhaps that is a lesson worth remembering — never underestimate the power of bringing a little joy into someone else’s day.
