🎉Successful second IAF-ICP Post Award Review Panel presentation for our AHCC10 ELEGANCE programme! 🥳

On 23 March 2026, Prof Pierce Chow, alongside industry partners MIRXES Pte Ltd, Asian Microbiome Library (AMILI), and Perspectum Ltd, shared exciting progress updates with our grantors at our second Post Award Review Panel (PARP) Meeting.

Mirxes and the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) have developed a groundbreaking blood-based biomarker panel that can detect individuals at risk of developing liver cirrhosis, a major risk factor for liver cancer.

In a report by Lianhe Zaobao 联合早报, Professor Pierce Chow, Senior Consultant, Division of Surgery and Surgical Oncology at Singapore General Hospital and National Cancer Centre Singapore and Protocol Chair of ELEGANCE was quoted, "This new blood biomarker test has the potential to significantly improve liver cancer screening by offering a non-invasive and relatively low-cost method of identifying people at risk of liver cirrhosis, addressing a critical gap in early liver cancer detection. Once clinically validated, we are hopeful that this new biomarker panel will significantly improve patient outcomes."

Last Thursday, we were pleased to hold the first ever Investigators' Meeting for AHCC10 ELEGANCE and AHCC11 PROSECT (Protocol Chair: Pierce Chow) since the studies' initiation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With over 60 investigators and study team members in attendance, the meeting was a booming success as everyone was engaged in a productive discussion alongside a fruitful networking session. During the meeting, presentations on the progress of the programme and pilot study findings by our industry partners were made.

We would like to thank all our investigators and study members for your continuous support in ELEGANCE and commitment in developing better diagnostic tools and strategies for the early detection of liver cancer in Singapore. ❤️

We are pleased to share with you the IMbrave050 article from Lancet (IF: 168.9) ahead of print, along with the press release by NCCS. Prof Pierce Chow is the senior author of this landmark randomized controlled trial which is the first in the world to demonstrate an effective adjuvant therapy for patients with HCC. This successful study reflects well on our network and the thought leadership of Singapore’s clinical and translational science.

In the NMRC OF-LCG PLANet programme, we are conducting the prospective AHCC12 EMPHASIS which is an adjuvant atezolizumab plus bevacizumab translational study in resected HCC patients that mirrors closely the positive IMbrave050. We aim to identify predictive biomarkers that can predict responders vs non-responders to the combination therapy, paving the way to precision medicine.

As of February 2023, we have officially hit our 2-year mark for the AHCC10 ELEGANCE Study! Thank you to all recruiting sites and study team members for your continuous support. It has truly been an exciting couple of years working with hospitals and SingHealth polyclinics around Singapore to develop better diagnostic tools and strategies for the early detection of liver cancer.

As we hit this milestone, we would like to reach out to patients with chronic liver diseases once again, and encourage them to take part in this landmark surveillance study.
