When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile.

"I wish I can see my daughter grow up".. A wish from a patient that brought tears to a group of doctors when he was asked what was his main wish. This patient suffered a fall and fractured his cervical spine, as such he would never be able to move all his limbs again. He was a successful businessman but because of this unfortunate incident, he has passed off his business to his employees.

This incident reminds me of one of my patient when i was a young clinician. I tried so hard to find ways to help this patient so that he will be able to eat again. He is motivated and tried really hard but unfortunately, nothing seems to be successful. One day, he came to me and said "Wai Lam, i appreciate all your help but I have decided to stop trying and continue living. I want to be with my family for as long as i can." This incident has taught me so much and contributed to the learning to be who am I today.
