Before streaming, we shared the screen. 📺
Welcome to Part 1 of our Time Together Intergenerational Video: Gen Z Ă— Seniors.
For this video series, we brought together 2 youths, Meitong and Kenny from LivLah. Alongside them are 3 seniors, Bou Tua, Collin and Tony from SG Assist’s senior community network, and gave them one simple starting point: a picture.
Using the “Come, Let’s Chat!” picture cards, the group picked a nostalgic image of two children watching an old television in a kampong.
From there, the conversation unfolded naturally.
The seniors shared what television, childhood and community felt like back then, while the youths responded with their own experiences of growing up today.
Same image.
Two generations.
Different memories, habits and perspectives.
But also more common ground than you might expect.
That is what this video series is about: creating space for two very different generations to sit down, talk, be curious about one another and discover the stories behind the years.
Sometimes, intergenerational connection does not need to begin with a big topic.
It can start with a picture.
A memory.
A question.
And someone willing to listen.
Here’s Part 1 of their conversation. ❤️
And beyond this video, Time Together is an intergenerational programme by AIC, SUSS and SG Assist, where youths and seniors are brought together through guided conversations and reminiscence activities to build understanding, connection and meaningful relationships across generations.
Because when generations make time for one another, stories do more than bring back memories.
They bring people closer.
