This is the first time you’ve seen my face here in a while.

I’ve been quieter than usual. My father died in March, and the months since have had a different quality to them — slower, more interior.

When my mother and I were going through his things, I found his paintbrushes. He came to painting and sculpture late, after a long career, and I think it was where he finally felt most like himself. I took the brushes home and started painting again.

Watercolour is an unforgiving medium. It doesn’t respond well to overworking. You have to know when to stop, when to let the water do what it wants, when to leave something unfinished and trust that it’s enough.

I’ve been thinking about that a lot lately.

When she came to me, the brief was clear: a brand and website that felt as grounded and personal as the spaces she creates. Rooted. Warm. The kind of presence that makes a prospective client feel understood and seen.

From the color palette to the typography, hand-drawn brand marks, all the way to the carefully designed website — everything was chosen to carry that same quality of quiet certainty. And the hygge-inspired interiors that Erin specializes in.

There's a particular kind of refinement that doesn't reach upward; it reaches inward. Grounded, warm, certain of itself without needing to perform.

That was the brief that Erin of brought to the table, and it shaped every decision from the colour palette to the mark, a hand-drawn illustration of the designer's own home, instantly recognizable to every client she's ever worked with.

My role was to ask the right questions, hold the process steady, and make sure that what we built together genuinely reflected her.

I’ve been listening to how they built their empire and the way the influenced an entire age through the deliberate, patient patronage of beauty and art. They understood, centuries before anyone had language for it, that investing in how things looked and felt was a form of power.
