🌸 Meet the Heart of Our Centre — Cittamani Tara

At the heart of our prayer hall stands Cittamani Tara — the Wish-Fulfilling Tara — the main practice deity of Tara Buddhist Centre.

Cittamani Tara embodies the swift compassion and boundless activity of Arya Tara, granting refuge to all who call upon her with a sincere heart.

Surrounding her are the 21 Taras — each a unique manifestation of Tara's enlightened qualities — represented as 21 individual statues, all within our prayer hall.

If you've been curious about Arya Tara or would simply like to visit, do come by on a Sunday morning. Our doors are open for a quiet, informal visit — a chance to step in, look around, and soak in the peaceful atmosphere.

🌸 The Buddha's First Teaching — The Four Noble Truths

After attaining enlightenment, the Buddha chose to teach out of pure compassion. His very first teaching was simple, yet profound.

1️⃣ Life involves suffering.
2️⃣ Suffering has a cause.
3️⃣ Suffering can end.
4️⃣ There is a path.

These truths speak to something we all experience. 🙏🌸

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama frames it around two simple facts: all of us want happiness, and none of us want suffering. From that starting point, everything unfolds.

🌼 Chokhor Düchen — Turning of the Wheel of Dharma 🌼

Today, 18 July, we mark Chokhor Düchen — one of the four great holy days in the Tibetan Buddhist calendar.

On this day, the Buddha turned the Wheel of Dharma for the first time at Deer Park in Sarnath — teaching the Four Noble Truths to his first disciples. This was the gift of the Dharma to the world.

On this auspicious day, all virtuous actions are said to be greatly multiplied. A wonderful day to recite mantras, make offerings, practise generosity, and dedicate merit for the benefit of all beings. 🙏

May the Dharma continue to flourish and may all beings find the path to freedom. 🌸✨

His teachings remind us that the purpose of life is to be happy, and that happiness grows from kindness and an open heart.

On this auspicious day, we offer our heartfelt prayers for His Holiness's long life, good health, and the continued flourishing of his precious teachings. 🌸

🌕 Saga Dawa — The Month of Merits

Saga Dawa is the most sacred month in the Tibetan Buddhist calendar, running this year from 17 May to 15 June 2026. It culminates on the full moon day of 31 May, known as Saga Dawa Düchen — the holiest day of the year for Tibetan Buddhists. This year, it coincides with Vesak Day.

This sacred month commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana of Lord Shakyamuni Buddha.

✨ Why is this month so special?

It is known as the "month of merits" — every act of goodness, however small, is magnified during this time. A beautiful opportunity to pause, reflect, and do a little more good in the world. 🙏
