*ASSETS DECLARATION TRAINING FOR OCME STAFF CONDUCTED BY THE ANTI-CORRUPTION COMMISSION*

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) wishes to inform the general public that on *Wednesday, 17th June 2026*, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) conducted a comprehensive online training on Assets Declaration for staff of the OCME.

The training which took place at 14 Gloucester Street, targeted all staff from Grade 7 and above and was delivered virtually through the ACC’s online Assets Declaration platform. It focused on enhancing understanding of the legal requirements, procedures, and ethical obligations under the *Anti-Corruption Act No. 12 of 2008 (as amended)*, as well as a step-by-step guidance on completing declarations using the new digital system.

This initiative reinforces OCME’s commitment to transparency, integrity, and compliance with the national anti-corruption standards as part of its mandate under the Medical Examiners Act No. 4 of 2021.

*FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION: BO-KENEMA HIGHWAY*

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, through the Disaster Victims’ Identification (DVI) Directorate, regrets to announce *a fatal motor vehicle collision on the Bo–Kenema Highway, Southern Province, Republic of Sierra Leone*.

OCME’s preliminary assessment indicates a head-on collision between a fuel tanker and a jeep, resulting in *five (5) fatalities: one (1) adult male, three (3) adult females, and one (1) pediatric victim*.

The decedents/victims have been transferred to the *Bo Government Hospital Mortuary for medico-legal examination, identification, and forensic documentation*. The release of remains to next-of-kin will proceed only upon completion of proper identification protocols and legal verification.

*The Director of DVI and the forensic response team at OCME are on site*, coordinating with the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), hospital authorities, and community stakeholders in order to ensure proper dignified handling and chain of custody.

*The Office extends sincere condolences to the bereaved families*. We request public restraint from speculation and misinformation especially for the affected relatives.
