أزمة القوى العاملة الصحية في شرق أفريقيا وجنوب السودان

توصي منظمة الصحة العالمية بوجود ما لا يقل عن 44.5 طبيبًا وممرضًا وقابلة لكل 10,000 نسمة لتحقيق التغطية الصحية الشاملة. ومع ذلك، لا تزال معظم دول شرق أفريقيا دون هذا المستوى، بينما يواجه جنوب السودان أحد أشد النقص في الكوادر الصحية المؤهلة في المنطقة.

ومن المتوقع أن تواجه أفريقيا عجزًا يتجاوز 6 ملايين من العاملين الصحيين بحلول عام 2030، نتيجة للنمو السكاني السريع، وتفشي الأمراض، والأزمات الإنسانية، وهجرة الكفاءات، ومحدودية القدرة الاستيعابية لمؤسسات التدريب.

الحل واضح: الاستثمار في تعليم وتدريب المهنيين الصحيين، والتوسع في مؤسسات التدريب، وتعزيز استبقاء الكوادر المؤهلة. فهناك حاجة ملحة إلى المزيد من الأطباء والممرضين والقابلات والصيادلة وأخصائيي المختبرات وخبراء الصحة العامة لتلبية الاحتياجات الصحية الحالية والمستقبلية.

إن تدريب المزيد من العاملين الصحيين اليوم هو استثمار في جنوب سودان أكثر صحةً وأمانًا وازدهارًا غدًا.

The Health Workforce Crisis in East Africa and South Sudan

The WHO recommends at least 44.5 doctors, nurses, and midwives per 10,000 population to achieve Universal Health Coverage. Most East African countries remain below this threshold, while South Sudan faces one of the most critical shortages of skilled health workers in the region.
Africa is projected to face a shortage of more than 6 million health workers by 2030, driven by rapid population growth, disease outbreaks, humanitarian crises, migration of professionals, and limited training capacity.
The solution is clear: invest in health professional education, expand training institutions, and strengthen retention of skilled personnel. More doctors, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, laboratory professionals, and public health specialists are urgently needed to meet current and future healthcare demands.
Training more health workers today is an investment in a healthier, safer, and more prosperous South Sudan tomorrow.
