On Monday, April 28th, 2025, in the town of mankien, Unity State, South Sudan, the Director of Health for Mayom County, Dr. Kong-Koang Gatduel , oversaw the reopening of CEmONC, a vital healthcare facility in the area. This event marked an important milestone in the county's efforts to improve public health and well-being.

In addition to the reopening of CEmONC, Dr. Koang-koang Gatduel also coordinated a measles follow-up campaign, aimed at ensuring that those affected by the disease received the necessary treatment and care. The campaign was carried out in collaboration with local healthcare workers and volunteers, who worked tirelessly to identify and treat cases of measles in the community.

The community of Mayom County showed great support for these initiatives, actively participating in the event and even organizing a gift exchange of goats in Mankien Payam. Visit Promoting Health and Well-Being in Mayom County

Today, Dr. Koang-koang Gatduel, the director of the Mayom County Health Office, embarked on a significant visit to Joknyang Community Treatment Unit (CTU) and the neighboring Nortikur village. This visit was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the children aid south Sudan (CASS) initiative and the Outreach Program (ORP) center under the Supportive Partnerships (SP) framework.

The purpose of Dr. Koang-koang Gatduel's visit was multifaceted, primarily focusing on strengthening healthcare delivery and enhancing the well-being of residents in these communities. By engaging directly with healthcare providers and community members, Dr. Koang-koang Gatduel aimed to assess the challenges faced by the CTU and gather valuable feedback on how to improve health services in the region.

The director of the Mayom County Health Office, Dr. Kong-Koang Gatduel, has provided an update on the cholera outbreak in Greater Mayom County. He reports that there is currently only one active case on admission and four other active cases in the county. This indicates a significant decrease in the number of cases. Koang-koang Gatduel and his team have conducted a joint supportive supervision to assess the situation on the ground and plan for further action. They are working closely with partners to eradicate the cholera endemic in the state.
