Embodiment is feeling oneself directly, without the constant narration or interpretation of our
thinking mind. This embodiment has no judgment, no commentary from an inner belief, and no filters, but
rather presents the raw data of the body “as is.” We can call this present-moment body awareness—direct
communication from our deeper self or embodiment. This is a moment in which we are not bound by past or
future, and can live in the present moment. We often describe this simple yet elusive sense as coming home,
being close to oneself, or simply here. - Manuela Mischke-Reeds

It's important to take a little rest.

In the 1950s, every kindergartener knew the ritual: crayons down, lights low, and the soft hum of a record spinning through the air.
Naptime wasn’t a break — it was part of learning.

Teachers dimmed the lights, tiptoed between mats, and whispered, “Close your eyes.”
Kids rested, dreamed, or just stared at sunbeams dancing on the ceiling — learning something we’ve since forgotten: that rest is part of growth.

Then came the tests.
The “readiness.”
The race to get ahead.
By the 1980s, naps were gone. The mats rolled up. The lights stayed on.

Today, five-year-olds spend more time in structured lessons than third-graders did in the 1950s — no pauses, no quiet, no chance to just be.
And we wonder why they’re anxious.

Maybe it’s time we remembered what our teachers once knew:
You don’t grow by running all the time.
You grow in the stillness too.
Even big kids need naptime sometimes.

Attention Somatics Practioners! https://www.facebook.com/share/16E3s7baHj/

If you’re a somatic or movement practitioner…

And you’re tired of being lumped in with trendy mobility drills, “fix-your-core” challenges, or shallow TikTok wellness hacks — I see you.

Because what you do isn’t trendy.

It’s transformational.

And it deserves to be in rooms where people get it.

That’s why we created the Let’s Get REAL: Somatics Festival.

A space for the practitioners, teachers, and educators who know this work is about more than movement mechanics.

🧠 It’s brain-body integration.
🧍 It’s learning through sensation, not demonstration.
🔬 It’s neuroscience meets lived experience.
And it’s long overdue.

If you’ve felt isolated in your practice… if you’ve craved deeper conversations about somatics beyond fascia releases and glute activations — this is your space.

Join us.
3 live Awareness Through Movement® lessons next week.
3 honest, wide-open panel conversations the week after.
A whole online community dedicated to meaningful, embodied work.

📅 Starts April 28 — it’s free.

Now you’ll understand better the work we do with the Feldenkrais Method.

"Functional Integration is essentially nonverbal. It is effective because the injured person […] has lost the ability to help himself. Their self-reliance is so compromised that most treatment produces only superficial improvement, if any at all. (In Functional Integration)… the deepest kinesthetic sensations formed in early childhood are affected. The person withdraws from what happens in the outside world and is completely absorbed with attending to the internally occurring changes. The smoother eye movement, the rotation of the head, the change in pressure distribution on the soles of the feet, the reduction of intercostal tensions, the completion of the antigravitational muscular patterns for a clear feeling of vertical upright standing cannot occur without a complete change of neural functioning of the intentional or motor cortex and of the sensory one.

The muscular tonus becomes more uniform and is lowered. A feeling of well-being prevails. The breathing becomes regular; the cheeks more colored. The eyes are brighter, wider, and moister and sparkle. At the end, one rubs one’s eyes as if awakening from a restful dream."
