Getting High on Chocolate: Haifa, June 2023. Participants from around the world came together to build community, reflect, share, and listen--aided by the psychoactive and disinhibitive properties of cacao. In events like these, participants have the chance to discuss topics that go far beyond small talk, in a safe, receptive setting. A few examples might include:
-What's a difficult experience you've been through, and what did you learn from it?
-What's a dream you haven't accomplished yet, and why not?
-What do you think happens after we die, and what has conditioned this belief?
-What are some of the things you're most grateful for in your life?
Each person in a pair has a moment of silence to think, 5 minutes to speak, and 5 minutes to listen before changing pairs and discussing a new question.
Why do this? Participants report that the space created by the event structure and guidelines + the effects they feel from the cacao help them to shine light on their blind spots, forge new and/or more meaningful connections, and make them feel seen on a level not felt in everyday interactions.
