👁️ Some signs in children may indicate an underlying retinal condition.

If your child wears glasses, it is important to check whether their astigmatism is greater than 4 diopters.

For younger children or those who do not wear glasses, watch for signs such as:
• Fear of the dark
• Difficulty finding their toys
• Needing help from classmates to find pencils or erasers at school
• Confusing colors

If you notice one or more of these signs, it is important to have your child evaluated by a retina specialist.

A person with tunnel vision cannot see at night👁️✨

During the day, they may only be able to see what they are directly looking at, while struggling to notice what is happening around them. They may see the face of the person in front of them clearly but fail to notice people or objects to their right or left.

For example, if you extend your hand for a handshake while they are looking at your face, they may not notice your hand. This is because their central vision may remain clear while their peripheral visual field becomes significantly narrowed.

This can be one of the noticeable signs of Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP). A person with RP may see straight ahead very clearly and even read distant text remarkably well. However, they may have difficulty noticing someone beside them, an obstacle on the ground, or even a cat or dog in their path while walking.

👁️ With RP, it’s not only about how clearly you see, but also how much of your surroundings you can see.

THE HOPE IN A PATIENT’S EYES IS A NEW BEGINNING FOR US. ✨👁️

Sometimes, the most precious part of what we do is being able to give someone hope…

Seeing the excitement in their eyes, sharing in their happiness, and receiving a heartfelt thank-you afterward… Even after all these years, it is this very bond that allows us to continue doing what we do with the same excitement.

Every patient has a different story, and every story is a new beginning for us. ✨

Retinitis Pigmentosa 👁️✨

Retinitis pigmentosa is a group of inherited retinal disorders that gradually affect the retina. One of its characteristic features is the progressive loss of peripheral vision.

Patients may initially see the center more clearly, while their ability to perceive objects and details from the sides gradually decreases. As the visual field narrows, this can create what is commonly described as “tunnel vision.”

The progression and degree of vision loss can vary from person to person. Regular ophthalmic examinations and retinal evaluations are important for monitoring changes in visual function.

The Treatment Journey of Our Patient from Senegal Diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa… 👁️🇸🇳

When our patient from Senegal first visited our clinic, his vision loss was already at an advanced stage. Both his central and peripheral vision were severely affected, and not only his night vision but also his daytime vision had become significantly limited, making daily life increasingly difficult.

After starting treatment, we observed a remarkably rapid improvement.

One of the first noticeable changes was an improvement in light and environmental adaptation. Later, our patient shared that he had also started to see better at night.

As the treatment progressed, we observed improvements in:
✨ Near vision and reading
✨ Distance vision
✨ Color perception
✨ Light–dark adaptation

In Retinitis Pigmentosa, seeking medical evaluation when peripheral or night vision first begins to decline is especially important for assessing and supporting the remaining visual functions.

Despite presenting with advanced vision loss, our patient showed rapid and significant progress throughout his treatment journey. Today, he is able to manage his daily life much more comfortably and has reached a level of visual function that allows him to return to his previous work. 💫

Our patient, diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa, shares that in her home country, no treatment option was available beyond regular check-ups and consultations.

After researching options in different countries and receiving guidance from her doctors, her journey led her to Fıratlı Clinic in Istanbul.

From the very first days of her treatment, she says she began noticing positive changes, particularly increased light perception and better adaptation to vision at night.

Throughout this journey, it is not only the treatment itself that matters, but also feeling safe, trusting the doctor, and being closely supported throughout the process.

At Fıratlı Clinic, we welcome patients with Retinitis Pigmentosa from different parts of the world, providing individualized evaluation and follow-up throughout their treatment journey.

Early Diagnosis Makes a Big Difference in Treatment 👁️✨

Since 2007, we have been treating patients with inherited retinal diseases. In the past, many of our patients came to our clinic only after their vision loss had already progressed significantly. Today, thanks to increased awareness, patients are able to receive a diagnosis much earlier.

In inherited retinal diseases such as Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), vision loss progresses gradually, so patients often notice only their declining night vision. However, difficulty seeing details during the day, reading, writing, or tracking moving objects can also be important signs of the disease.

As the disease progresses, complications such as cataracts or macular edema (macular cysts) may develop. These complications can affect central vision and may result in a longer treatment process.

That is why early diagnosis means early treatment. The earlier the disease is detected, the more favorable the treatment process can be, and the greater the potential benefit from treatment.

Every patient is unique. Therefore, the most appropriate treatment plan is determined individually after a comprehensive eye examination and detailed evaluation.

A Patient from Canada with Retinitis Pigmentosa and Usher Syndrome 🇨🇦👁️

For many people living with Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) and Usher Syndrome, even the simplest daily activities can become challenging. Walking through a doorway, navigating unfamiliar environments, or moving safely often requires the support of another person.

Living with constant dependence is not only physically demanding but also emotionally challenging. Like everyone else, these individuals long for the freedom to move independently and live their lives with confidence.

One of the most meaningful aspects of treatment is the hope it can bring. Beyond supporting visual function, treatment may help patients regain greater independence and the confidence to navigate everyday life with less reliance on others. For many, it represents a renewed hope for freedom.💫

A Journey of Hope from Canada… 🇨🇦✨

Our patient, who visited our clinic with a diagnosis of Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) and Usher Syndrome, shared their treatment experience.

During the first week of treatment, they noticed that the fog in the center of their vision had begun to clear. By the second week, they reported seeing colors more vividly and clearly. As the treatment progressed, they also experienced improvements in their peripheral vision and sensitivity to light.

Through the clinical assessments performed at our clinic, we were also able to objectively monitor the improvements in our patient’s peripheral vision and were pleased to observe their progress throughout the treatment process.

Every patient is unique, and every treatment journey is personalized. For this reason, we carry out comprehensive evaluations and create individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s specific needs.
