Summer time is Pitta dosha dominant time, meaning fire🔥 element is strong.
Ayurveda gives us suggestions on how to balance it with dietary changes &!routine changes but have you ever considered how to balance Pitta through your Yoga practice?
🌱 Instead of prolonged stays in poses, slow flow vinyasa’s are recommended because holding poses increases heat, enabling Pitta’s perfectionist side to “go a little deeper” and focus on perfecting alignment. Rather a slow flow, evokes a sense of serenity and surrender.
✨ Light twists, mini backbends, gentle lateral stretches are all key to subtly release the aggravated heat within the body. Avoid strenuous arm balances, fast paced power yoga sequences, standing poses done one after another.
🎋 Practice Sheethali, Sheetkari & Chandra Bhedana in between poses to naturally cool down the breathe 🧘 don’t be afraid to interrupt your asana practice and add breathework in between them.
Remember that extending your exhalation really aids in cooling down the breathe body and mind
Savasana is a must in every practice, but specifically for Pitta balancing, enjoy looong savasana’s :)
