📣As Ege Scientific Research Team, we are glad to announce that you can now apply to become a passive participant at our 4th International Medical Students’ Congress: Genetics. Our congress will be held on 14-15-16th of March, 2020 at Ege University Muhiddin Erel Amphitheater in Izmir, Turkey.

Prepare yourself for the amazing scientific program! 🧠

We prepared a variety of workshops and conferences for you. Prof. Dr. Ali Hamiche from France, Prof. Dr. Jacob Hanna and Dr. David Burstein from Israel and Dr. Anıl Biricik from Italy will be with us, also from Turkey, Prof. Dr. Emin Kansu, Prof. Dr. Halil Kavaklı, Prof. Dr. Stefan Dimitrov, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Okay Çağlayan and Dr. İbrahim Gökçe Yayla will give us talks on different topics.

Our social programe is rich with Dinner Party🥂, tour of Ephesus Ancient City🏛 and lovely bay🛳.

Guest Speaker | Emin Kansu, MD

Dr. Emin Kansu is an educator, internist, hematologist and oncologist. Graduate of Hacettepe University, he completed his studies on Internal Medicine, Hematology and Immunology in Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia. Then, he returned to Hacettepe University where he served as the head of Institute of Oncology, Department of Basic Oncology, Department of Stem Cell Sciences and the Cancer Institute.
He’s been the Chair of International Society of Hematology and an Adjunct Professor in Thomas Jefferson University. Also, he is an honorary member of TÜBA- Turkish Academy of Science. Dr. Kansu’s research interests include hematopoiesis, bone marrow and stem cell biology, pathogenesis of malignant hematological diseases, immuno-oncology, blood and bone marrow transplantation, chronic graft-vs-host disease immunobiology and scientific ethics.

Guest Speaker | Jacob Hanna, MD PhD |

Dr. Jacob Hanna is an Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel, where he explores topics in embryonic stem cell biology, early embryonic development and the modeling of human diseases. He has 48 h-index and 24686 citations to his papers so far. Dr. Hanna conducted postdoctoral research at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was the first non-American graduate to receive a prestigious Novartis Fellowship from the Helen Hay Whitney Foundation, a Genzyme-Whitehead Fellowship, and was one of 35 people under the age of 35 recognized as Young Innovators of 2010 by MIT’s Technology Review magazine. He received numeruos awards for his biochemichal researches and was featured in 2014 among “40 under 40” innovative scientists by the prestigious journal Cell.

Guest Speaker | David Burstein, PhD |

Dr. David Burstein graduated from Tel Aviv University with double major program in Bioinformatics in 2004. After receiving his MS and PhD from the same university he did his postdoctoral fellowship on metagenomic studies of CRISPR-Cas systems at University of California Berkeley between 2013-2018. His works have been published in high impact journals like Science and Nature. Now, in his lab Dr. David and his team aim to better understand key interaction mechanisms within microbial communities and to promote their application in biotechnology and medicine. Specifically, they are interested in discovering novel antibiotic resistance genes, CRISPR-Cas systems, and bacterial secretion systems.

Guest Speaker | Ali Hamiche, PhD

We are proud to announce our first lecture by Prof. Ali Hamiche who is a french scientist well-known for his works to understand the role of histone variants in epigenetic regulations and tumorigenesis. After receiving his bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from University of Paris-Sud in 1991 and his Ph.D in Molecular and Cell Biology from University of Paris VI in 1995, he continued to work in various laboratories in France and USA. He is now the CNRS Director of Research and the leader of a team that was rated A+ by AERES Committee in 2008 and 2012. His group was recognized as an outstanding research group by the National League Against Cancer. Recently, he received the prestigious Dandrimont-Bénicourt Prize from the French Academia of Sciences for his contribution to the epigenetic field and oncogenesis.
