Working in technical support has taught me that troubleshooting with tunnel vision can waste plenty of time.

You decide what the problem is, then keep looking for information to support your theory while ignoring everything else.

We do the same thing with nutrition.

“It must be the carbs.” 😱

“My metabolism is broken.”

“I need to eat less.” 🫣

“This plan is not working.”

But have we gathered enough evidence?

Have we looked at our portions, skipped meals, water intake, movement, sleep, stress, and overall consistency?

Before removing another food group or starting another restrictive diet, pause and look at the full picture.

Nutrition is not about finding one food to blame. It is about understanding your patterns and making informed adjustments.

Before you remove the rice, run the diagnostics. 😄

Track your habits for seven days, review what you recorded, and ask:

* What is happening consistently?

* What changed recently?

* Which habit may be having the greatest impact?

* What is one realistic adjustment I can test this week?

Change one thing, observe the outcome, and then adjust.

What nutrition belief might you need to troubleshoot? Feel free to send me a message.

AAAH... so the clock is ticking. You need to finish that report.
Solve that problem, answer those emails.

And that little voice in the background keeps saying,
"You're hungry."
You look at the clock.
12:00 PM.

"Let me just finish this one thing first."

Next thing you know it's 2:30 PM and you're starving.

A lot of us aren't skipping lunch because we're too busy.

We're skipping lunch because somewhere along the way, being busy became a badge of honour.

If you're not juggling a hundred things, are you working hard enough?

If you're not stressed, are you really being productive?

If you take a proper lunch break, are you slacking off?

So we push through hunger, only to end up grabbing whatever is easiest later, overeating, and wondering why our energy crashes.

Here's the truth:
Skipping lunch doesn't make you a better employee.
It also doesn't make you more productive.
It just leaves you trying to run on an empty tank.
Long and short of it your body needs fuel.

🥊One small challenge: This week, take your full lunch break at least 3 days out of 5. No emails. No meetings. Just eat.

Who's willing to give it a try? 🍽️

Many people believe they need a better meal plan, more willpower, or a stricter diet to lose weight.
But what if the real challenge is something much simpler?

Recently, one of my clients completed her weekly check-in, and a pattern became very clear.

She wasn't struggling because she didn't know what healthy foods to eat.
She was struggling because life kept getting in the way.

✅ Busy workdays
✅ Back-to-back meetings
✅ Stress
✅ Lack of meal preparation

As a result, meals were skipped, water intake was inconsistent, and movement took a back seat.

Sound familiar?

What stood out most was that despite these challenges, she consistently included protein with her meals and made a conscious effort to drink more water. These may seem like small wins, but they are exactly the habits that create lasting change.

One of the most powerful insights from her reflection was:

"I need to be more intentional with my personal goals."

Weight loss isn't just about knowing what to eat.
It's about creating an environment that makes healthy choices easier.

If your schedule is busy, ask yourself:
- Have I planned my meals for tomorrow?
- Do I have healthy options available when work gets hectic?
- Is my water bottle within reach?
- Have I scheduled time for movement the same way I schedule meetings?
Success doesn't come from being perfect.

It comes from being prepared.

This week, instead of focusing on the number on the scale, focus on one habit you can be more intentional about.

Small actions repeated consistently lead to big results. 💚

This morning I had a thought that sat heavy with me.
We sacrifice so much in the name of a better life.

We sacrifice time with our family.
Time to sit and have a proper meal.
Time to think about our health.
Time to rest.
Time to sleep.
Time to breathe.

And most times, we do it because we are trying to create a better life for ourselves and our children.

We say, “I just have to push through.”
“I will rest later.”
“I will eat properly when things settle down.”
“I will focus on my health when I have more time.”

But what if later comes with a cost?

What is the point of working so hard for a better life if we don’t live long enough, or well enough, to enjoy it?

What happens when the money we sacrificed our health to make is now being spent on medical bills?

What happens when the children we worked so hard for grew up watching us too busy, too tired, too stressed, and now they don’t really know how to reach us?

That thought humbled me this morning.

Because sometimes we are so focused on building a future that we forget to take care of the life we already have.

Our body speaks.
The tiredness.
The cravings.
The headaches.
The poor sleep.
The rising pressure.
The blood sugar issues.
The weight gain.
The constant exhaustion.

Those are cues.

Not punishments.
Not shame.
But signs that something needs attention.
And whatever you focus on will grow.

If you focus on your health, it can improve.
If you focus on your relationships, they can deepen.
If you focus on your peace, it can return.

But whatever you neglect will also show signs of decay.
So today, I am taking a moment to appreciate what I have.

The body I have.
The family I have.
The time I have.
The chance I still have to make a different choice.

Because the sacrifices we make should not leave us too sick, too tired, or too disconnected to enjoy the life we were working so hard to build.

Don’t ignore the signs and push them to another day.
Take stock.
Listen to your body.
Look at your life honestly.
And chart a new way forward.

Because the goal is not just to work hard for a better life.

The goal is to be alive, healthy, and present enough to enjoy it.

Don’t let the sacrifices you made be enjoyed by someone else.

💬 So tell me... what's one thing you've been telling yourself you can't do?

I was recently doing some mindset coaching with a client, and I asked her a simple question: "What are your strengths?"

The silence that followed said a lot. Most of us can tell you instantly what we can't do.

❌ I can't meal prep every day.

❌ I don't have time to exercise.

❌ I can't stick to a diet.

❌ I don't have enough motivation.

But how often do we stop and ask ourselves: What CAN I do?

I believe there is far more value in building on your strengths than spending all your energy circling your weaknesses.

Let's say you don't think you'll ever have time to prepare meals every day.

What can you do?
Maybe you're good at making informed choices when you eat out.
Maybe you can choose grilled instead of fried.
Maybe you can add vegetables.
Maybe you can drink water instead of sugary drinks.

That's a strength.
Or perhaps you don't have the time or finances to join a gym.
What can you do?
Maybe you can walk around your neighbourhood.
Maybe you can dance in your living room.
Maybe you can spend 10 minutes stretching before bed.

That's a strength too.
Sometimes we're so focused on what isn't possible that we completely overlook what is. The challenge is usually in the starting.

But when you change the question from:

"Why can't I?"
to
"What can I do right now?" things begin to feel more doable.

You start seeing opportunities instead of obstacles.
You stop waiting for the perfect time.
You stop convincing yourself that it's too late.

And maybe, just maybe, you realize: I don't have to do everything today.

I just have to start today.

👉 Need help identifying your strengths and creating a realistic plan that works for your life? Send me a message. Sometimes the breakthrough starts with changing the question from "Why can't I?" to "What can I do?"

Do I need to be gluten-free?
These days, gluten seems to get blamed for everything.
Bloating? Gluten.
Feeling tired? Gluten.
Can't lose weight? Must be gluten.

But before you start clearing out your pantry, let's talk about what gluten actually is. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye.

For some people, gluten is a real problem. People with celiac disease (about 1 in 100 people) must avoid gluten because it causes damage to their small intestine.

Then there's non-celiac gluten sensitivity, which affects a relatively small percentage of the population and can cause symptoms like bloating, headaches, fatigue, and brain fog after eating gluten-containing foods.

But here's the part we don't talk about enough...
Statistically, it's more likely that you don't have a gluten-related condition than that you do.

Yet many people are avoiding gluten because they've heard it improves digestion, energy, or overall health.

For most people, the evidence simply doesn't support going gluten-free.
In fact, when someone tells me they're bloated after eating carbs, gluten may not be the issue at all.

Sometimes it's:
✅ Water retention
✅ A high-sodium meal
✅ Eating more carbohydrates than usual
✅ Digestive issues unrelated to gluten
✅ Or simply paying attention to symptoms because gluten has become the popular suspect

Truth is, cutting out gluten won't automatically make you healthier. If you have celiac disease or a diagnosed gluten sensitivity, absolutely, avoiding gluten is important.

But if you're removing foods just because social media says they're "bad," you may be making life harder than it needs to be.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:
Healthy eating is complicated enough without creating food rules you don't actually need.

Before blaming the bread, make sure the bread is really the problem.

💬 Have you ever gone gluten-free or considered it? What made you think gluten was the issue?

You may think I'm boring, but I like routine.
Not because I love schedules or enjoy doing the same thing every day.
I like routine because routine helps me become the person I want to be.

When I had the flu recently, my routine disappeared. I was waking up at different times. Not exercising. Eating breakfast later than usual. Even my sleep and bathroom habits were off.

I felt like a completely different person. Not my best self. Not functioning at my usual level.

A while ago, I was talking to someone who mentioned they felt so much better after going to bed earlier one night.

I pointed out that their body was probably telling them something and suggested setting a regular bedtime.

They didn't like that idea. They preferred to keep bedtime spontaneous.
But it made me wonder...

Is their wake-up time spontaneous too? Or do they get up at roughly the same time every day to get their child to school and make it to work?

Most of us already follow routines. We just don't always recognize them.
And nutrition works the same way.

If I've found meals that nourish me, give me energy, help me feel satisfied, and support my goals...

Why wouldn't I repeat them? We don't call it boring when we brush our teeth every day. We call it self-care.

The same goes for the new habit I'm building. See that sun shining on my face? ☀️That's me intentionally adding a new routine: daily sun exposure.

Because I'm experimenting, paying attention to my body, and creating habits that support the life and health I want.

Maybe repeating healthy meals, going to bed at a consistent time, getting outside for some sunlight, or taking a daily walk isn't boring after all.

Maybe it's one of the reasons successful habits actually stick.

💬 What's one routine that makes you feel your best when you do it consistently?

Monday Reflection: What Does Healthy Really Mean?

As I start this Monday, I'm taking a moment to reflect on where I am right now and where I want to be by the end of the week.

Before I ask myself, "Am I healthy?" I think it's important to first ask, "What does healthy mean to me?" Framing the question correctly helps us reflect more honestly and intentionally.

I like to consider health in three key areas:

✨ Nutrition

✨ Physical wellbeing

✨ Mental and emotional health

Maybe now is a good time for you to reflect on these areas too.

We often spend our days taking care of everyone and everything else.

We rush from one responsibility to the next and rarely take a moment to recognize where we are right now.

Nutritionally, ask yourself:

• Are you eating your meals regularly?

• Are your meals balanced and nourishing?

• Are you drinking enough water?

• Are you eating mindfully or simply grabbing food on the go?

Physically, consider: • How is your energy level?

• Are you moving your body regularly?

• Are you getting enough quality sleep?

• What is your body trying to tell you?

Mentally and emotionally, reflect on: • How are you really feeling?

• Are you managing stress in a healthy way?

• Have you taken time for yourself recently?

• Are your thoughts supporting your wellbeing or working against it?

Remember, health is about so much more than the number on a scale. It's about how you nourish your body, care for your physical health, and support your mind and emotions.

This week, instead of focusing on perfection, focus on awareness. Recognize where you are, celebrate what you're doing well, and identify one small thing you can improve.

💚 Healthy habits start with honest reflection.

What is one thing you would like to improve this week for your health and wellbeing?

I had to take a hot minute to focus on my environment and how it was affecting my immunity.

As I've written before, we all go through different seasons in life. At different times, we need to focus on the things that nourish and support the body based on what it needs right now.

I'm very much an office worker, spending most of my day indoors in the corporate world. Recently, I realized I wasn't getting nearly enough sunlight as part of my daily routine.

We often talk about nutrition as food, but sometimes the body is lacking nutrients that don't come from a plate.

Sunlight plays an important role in vitamin D production, which supports immune function. Research also shows that exposure to sunlight can influence immune responses in the body. From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, low yang energy can sometimes be associated with feeling run down, cold, and more susceptible to illness.

For me, recurring bouts of the flu were a sign that I needed to pay attention.
This was my reminder that I was missing some much-needed nutritional sun rays.

So now I'm intentionally adding about 30 minutes of sunlight exposure into my day, allowing my body to reconnect with something it has been missing. Not because it's trendy. Not because it's a magic fix.

Because being sick doesn't help me achieve any of the things that matter to me.
Sometimes wellness isn't about adding another supplement, another workout, or another diet.

Sometimes it's as simple as stepping outside and giving your body what it's been quietly asking for all along.
