Rethink the Value in Our Career 🤔

Sometimes, we focus so much on the numbers on our paycheck that we overlook the hidden costs of our work life. This comparison between two jobs (don't overthink the currency) reveals a powerful truth:

Job 1 offers £40,000 annually with a 1-hour commute each way. This translates to £15.38 per hour when considering total time invested.

Job 2, with a £32,000 salary and just a 6-minute walk to work, actually values your time more at £15.98 per hour.

The lesson? It's not just about the money but about how much of your life you're trading for it. Time is our most precious resource. How you spend it matters as much as, if not more than, the salary you earn.

Let’s value our time, prioritize our well-being, and strive for a balance that truly enriches our lives.

So I decided to hop on the coauthor mini trend and Wow! 2024 was the year leadership taught me that growth isn't linear it's a beautiful, messy dance of faith, strategy, and continuous learning 🌟

From navigating board-level decisions at Port of Spain Shopping Complex Ltd to rolling up my sleeves as an HR Coordinator, this year proved that true leadership means showing up authentically in every space. Whether managing time and attendance for 70+ staff or diving into governance as a Board Member, I learned that impact isn't about the title, it's about the intention 💪🏾.

Trees are important 😐. Right here in Trinidad I see several sets of land with lush tall trees that act as our filtration system whiles providing shade and beauty being cut down with no contingency plans to replant 😒

Very insightful words given by a Mr. Sean McPheat, a business man situated in England. He stated that Great leaders don't give orders, they inspire action. These simple phrases he provided can inspire change in the workplace. He stated that "Empowerment begins with words, not control" and I felt and totally agree with it.
