As usual my email went out on tbe first Friday of the month yesterday to say, Hey HBH is open for the July window!
Somewhere between writing it and sending it, I erased the line that said the actual July open dates. Some days are like that, you know?

I love the way using herbs remind me how we are nature. Our seasons. Our times of growth and of rest. Floods, droughts, flourishing, change, and renewal. What herbs help us to survive and thrive changes with those seasons.

In working with and living herbs, observing and listening to people talk about their health for over two decades, and studying the body, I can see these same rhythms in myself and my communities.
We, too, are of this earth 💚

😍Today I was bottling some nettle extract for orders just had to stop and appreciate it. It's a blend of Taiwan's special urticaria thunbergiana and the Western dioca and its so pretty. It's nearly as green as nettle tea but without waiting for 4 hours to be ready 🌿💧

🤔Know anywhere you can get some great herbal teas in Taiwan? Ones that are also good chilled AND they actually work on your health for you while you read, scroll, or have a really deep blank stare?

Plants medicines have truly taught me that less can be more 💚
Sure curcumin from turmeric, withanosides or KSM-66 from ashwagandha, and EGCG in green tea are great at building change in the body, but are they the only bioactive compounds in these herbs?

Heck no!

Herbs and their human-scale extracts were used successfully for MILLENIA before before labs and I appreciate that science can bring light and in some cases cautions to herb use. But to turn herbs and our ideas of what they should be (!) entirely over to modern science and cast away the science and safety of traditional practices?

I'll be over with the plants, responsible herbalists, and the elders who actually know how to work with plants safely. And not with the industrial complex so they can make herbs another pharmaceutical. Thankyoubutnothankyou
