Teaching young women how to make our reusable feminine hygiene pads at Faraja. Faraja is a safe place where women and children are rescued from adverse situations such as human trafficking and domestics violence, here they learn vocational skills like cooking and sewing in hopes to empower them for a brighter future. •

TUESDAY TABOOS: On Tuesdays in April, we are sharing taboos & stigmas heard across the globe.
In rural Rwanda, girls shared with us myths they believed in their village such as:
-Women who drink in bars are considered prostitutes.
-More vaginal fluid is equated with more fertility.
-The only way to stop a period is to have s*x.
👆🏼Not only are these FALSE, they are harmful and can cause women to live in fear of s*x and their bodies when they do not know the truth. Everyone deserves s*x eduction, knowledge is POWER!

We are so excited to announce Bandapads is now getting started in Tanzania in addition to Rwanda. We are working with 2 amazing organizations that are empowering Tanzanian women. The first is Kiretono, http://www.aidtanzania.org/ who is helping young Masai girls receive an education and teaching them life skills. We will be teaching them how to make the pads this summer. The other is Pippi House, http://pippihousefoundation.weebly.com/. Where we taught then this January how to make the pads and will be following up with a business plan. These are young girls that have been rescued off the streets of Arusha from extremely difficult life situations. Stay tuned for all of our updates. Please follow us on IG and soon twitter.
