About 1.5 million people are living with HIV in Tanzania, of whom more than 260,000 are not aware they are HIV positive. Tanzania Society of Pediatric Nurses TSPN is supporting the Tanzanian government to increase HIV testing uptake in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal of ending HIV and AIDS by 2030.

"In Tanzania, more than 1 in 5 new cancer cases, and more than 1 in 5 cancer deaths are due to cervical cancer. Despite being the most preventable cancer, cervical cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths, followed by prostate and breast cancer. To eradicate cervical cancer in Tanzania, stakeholders must support the government's efforts to roll out the single-dose HPV vaccine."

In Tanzania, 4 out of 10 infants born to women living with are not tested for within the recommended 2 months of age. This contributes to significant preventable mother-to-child transmission. We can't end HIV and AIDS without preventing mother-to-child transmission. Society of Pediatric Nurses TSPN, by collaborating with stakeholders, is leading the way to support the Tanzanian government in ending HIV/AIDS by 2030.

In Tanzania, prevalence is 4.4% among adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) aged 15-24 years, while it is 4.5% among adults aged 15 years and older. Special attention is needed to address the unique challenges that increase AGYW's vulnerability to acquiring new infections.

Since 2018, Tanzania has increased the number of neonatal care units (NCU) by more than 92%.
Tanzania Society of Pediatric Nurses has been supporting the Tanzanian government to achieve this significant milestone.
Neonatal Care Units (NCUs) are specialized units that provide basic to advanced health care for sick, small, including premature newborns.
