What should you do before getting a tattoo?

Learn about contraindications.
First of all, find out if you have any contraindications to tattooing (allergy to ink, skin diseases, infections, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, tendency to keloid scars, etc.). What should you do before getting a tattoo? Pregnant women should also consult a doctor about this issue before getting a tattoo.

Prepare your wardrobe.
Secondly, prepare your wardrobe in advance for the time the tattoo is healing (for 1-2 weeks). Clothes should not rub or touch the tattoo, it is better if they are made of natural, breathable fabrics.

Check your first aid kit.
Make sure that your first aid kit contains dexpanthenol-based ointment, an absorbent diaper, antibacterial soap, and a mesh bandage. You may need all of this during the healing process of the tattoo. Different artists recommend their own methods for healing a tattoo. Some do not recommend using ointments, but prefer a healing film and moisturizer. Be sure to consult with your tattoo artist and clarify which method he or she recommends.

Bring water to the session
It is very important that you feel good during the session. Be sure to bring a small bottle of water, and drink it during the session.

Moisturize your skin beforehand.

Use lotions or body creams to keep your skin hydrated for a few weeks before the tattoo, this will help the ink absorb better. Of course, you do not need to apply moisturizer right before the tattoo.

Take vitamin C.
Increase your intake of vitamin C before the tattoo. It has an antioxidant function in the body and is necessary for the formation of connective tissue, the absorption of iron, and maintaining resistance. However, before taking any vitamin supplements, you should consult with your doctor.

Get enough sleep before the tattoo session. A good night's rest will prepare your body and mind for what's to come.

Eat a big meal before your appointment.
You'll be in pain, and your body will need enough energy to heal itself properly. It will also help maintain your blood sugar levels and help you avoid feeling dizzy or faint during your appointment.
