It turns out there is a lot we can do with our diet and other lifestyle choices to hopefully avoid developing dementia, including delaying the onset Alzheimer’s disease. Health coaches help people put those behavioral changes in place and maintain them.

A personal coaching program that focused on health and lifestyle changes led to improvements in memory and thinking skills among older adults at risk for Alzhei

Seth and I signed up for the Alzheimer’s walk in Santa Clarita on October 3, 2026. If anyone wants to join us, we would love to walk with you. It’s a 5k or 3 miles. You can also run it. If you don’t live in the Santa Clarita Valley or close by, and you’d like to walk for this cause, check and see if there’s one in your local area🧠🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️. This fundraiser is available in 600 different communities across the country 😊

Your 40s, 50s, and beyond require a completely new playbook.

🧠💪Remember when you could bounce back from a terrible night’s sleep, skip a few meals, crush a random gym workout, and feel totally fine?

If you try that in mid-life, it usually ends in extreme fatigue, stubborn weight that won't budge, or a frustrating injury.

Our bodies and brains change. The strategies that worked in your 20s and 30s simply don't work anymore.

That is why I am incredibly excited to officially launch Wellness Comes From Within!

I specialize in helping adults mid-life and beyond reclaim their physical health, optimize their daily lifestyle habits safely, and protect their cognitive longevity. No extreme diets. No joint-crushing workouts. No fluff.

Here is a sneak peek at what is coming:

🪷 Menopause Wellness Exploration: A specialized program for women to support their energy, comfort, and changing metabolisms during mid-life transitions.

🏋️‍♂️ Mid-Life Functional Fitness & Nutrition: A customized roadmap for men and women to reduce lifestyle-related health risks, build strength, and feel vibrant without getting injured.

🧠 The Brain Fitness Program: Scientifically-backed daily habits and cognitive training (not puzzles or games) designed to sharpen your memory and support long-term cognitive vitality.

You don't need a younger body to feel vibrant, sharp, and strong. You just need a smarter strategy.

After going to the doctor for my yearly physical last fall and finding out I had higher than average cholesterol and slightly high blood pressure, I decided I really do have to do something about it.

Since last fall I’ve worked on getting my blood pressure and cholesterol down to normal numbers. My blood pressure came down significantly in the first few months. I need to get my cholesterol tested again to find out where that’s at.

Like most people, I have a family history of a few medical conditions that if ignored, are guaranteed to make my life significantly more miserable while I spend a lot more time than I want in one doctor’s office or another.

I don’t want this as my future and it doesn’t have to be this way. With retirement on the horizon, I’m hoping to do more fun things more often and some days, do nothing at all. I’ve started paying a lot more attention to what I eat and finding ways to get in more movement.

Unfortunately, my teenager doesn’t give a flip about health and just wants to eat the good tasting food all of her friends are eating. My husband wants good tasting food too and recently said he thought I could cook when we got married, but now the only thing I make is healthy food 🤣

I really don’t want to trade good tasting food for cardboard! I also want to avoid the dinner table wars. Instead of cutting everything out or going on some crazy diet none of us will ever stick to, I have been making the recipes we like with healthier ingredients. Are these recipe makeovers always 100% healthy? Not all the time. If I’m only cooking for myself, I can use absolutely healthy ingredients. My family is not going to go for that though. They are, however, eating the “less bad” versions I have been making.

So, I have decided to continue with my “less bad meals” when I’m cooking for everyone. I’m going to call them my “stealth health” meals.

•Those meatballs I made yesterday they said are so good, have quinoa in them in place of panko bread crumbs.
•The green stuff in the tomato sauce everyone thought was basil, it’s actually spinach.
•The ground beef I used for the meatballs is 96% fat free.
•The fries in the chile cheese fries I made recently for my daughter that she couldn’t believe I actually made, they weren’t fried.
•The ground beef in the chili was 96% fat free and the tomatoes in the chili were “no salt added.”

I know I’m not going to get anything past them like kale that is obviously kale🥬, but I’ll take my wins where I can get them. Maybe I’ll be able to eventually find a work around for the kale too🤔

BTW This works with grandkids nieces and nephews and anyone else you want to share the love of healthy living with.

Are you trying to upgrade your family's health without starting a dinner-table war? Drop a 🙋‍♀️ in the comments, and let's swap recipe hacks!

*Note: I am a certified health coach and a certified personal trainer sharing my personal lifestyle journey! Always consult your primary physician for medical advice and diagnostic testing.

Did you know that one in three older adults has one of the more than 100 types of dementia when they die? Alzheimer’s is the most common type we hear about. Researchers are working to develop treatments for this devastating disease. The walk to end Alzheimer’s disease is held in 600 different communities in the country. Chances are one is located near you.

The walk raises money to treat, care for, and support people with Alzheimer’s disease and their families. The walk is a great way to contribute towards the cost of developing treatments while you get a little bit of exercise in too.

The Alzheimer's Association's Walk to End Alzheimer's is the world's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research.
