I had the pleasure of leading a group for relapse prevention these past few weeks and it brought me so much joy!
I often feel as though my job isn’t even a job because I love what I do so much. Getting to pour into people during the rough patches of life is truly an honor!
During this group we talked about so many different adjustments that have to be made when coming out of addiction. And that sometimes emotions run rampant and try to take control.
The girls pointed out to me that often times when they would say something they thought was negative (crying, taking time to themselves, setting boundaries, not knowing how they felt) I would often respond with
“AND THAT’S OKAY”.
They caught me off guard the last day of group by beating me to saying it!
I know I probably picked it up from one of many mentors along my journey and now it’s my catch phrase!
But just know
it’s okay not to know,
It’s okay to feel emotions more one day and not so much the next day
It’s okay to reach out!
