🌟 Healer Spotlight: Anna Zheng 🌟

Anna Zheng is a dedicated scholar at Hertford County Early College with a passion for learning and understanding the world around her. In her everyday life, she enjoys painting, reading, exploring the field of psychology, spending time with friends, enjoying delicious food, and playing games. Her curiosity, creativity, and love of learning make her a valuable member of the Health Science Academy. 🎨📚🧠

After high school, Anna hopes to continue her education by transferring to a two-year college, either in-state or out-of-state. She is considering attending University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill or Wake Forest University as she pursues a career in social psychology. Anna is excited about the opportunity to better understand human behavior and make a positive impact on the lives of others through her future career. We are proud to celebrate Anna and look forward to seeing all she accomplishes! 💙✨

🌟 Healer Spotlight: Khasidee Charles 🌟

Freshman healer, Khasidee Charles, is already making strides toward a future dedicated to caring for animals and serving others. In her free time, Khasidee enjoys reading, sketching, and playing video games with her friends. Her creativity, curiosity, and compassionate spirit shine through in everything she does. 📚🎨🎮

After high school, Khasidee plans to attend either East Carolina University or North Carolina State University to study veterinary medicine. She hopes to one day work in a veterinary clinic where she can help animals in need — a dream she has had since she was a little girl. 🐾💙 The Hertford County Early College family is proud to support Khasidee as she continues pursuing her passion for animal care and healing!

🌟 Healer Spotlight: Nahomi Martinez Ventura 🌟

This week, we are proud to spotlight Hertford County Early College freshman, Nahomi Martinez Ventura! 🩺✨

Nahomi enjoys spending time playing games with friends and has a special love for collecting all things Baby Yoda related. 💚 In the future, she plans to attend North Carolina State University to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree and pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian. 🐾🐶

Nahomi also hopes to one day open her very own animal shelter, where she can care for and protect animals in need. Her compassion, dedication, and love for animals truly reflect the heart of a future healer. We are excited to watch her continue to grow and achieve her goals! ❤️🐾

✨ Healer Spotlight: Kristin Ellis ✨

This week, we are proud to spotlight Kristin Ellis, a sophomore at Hertford County Early College High School with a passion for the medical and health science field. Kristin hopes to become a neonatologist and work with premature newborns, helping them grow stronger and healthier. After high school, she plans to continue her education at Duke University, East Carolina University, or University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. 👶🏽🩺

Outside of school, Kristin enjoys music, playing her clarinet, and caring for her parakeets. These hobbies have helped her develop patience, creativity, and responsibility — qualities that will support her future career in healthcare. We are excited to see all she accomplishes as a future healer!

Friday May 8, 2026, the Hertford County Health Science Academy proudly celebrated a milestone moment during our End of Year Banquet!

Our “Healers,” alongside their families, staff, and community partners, gathered for an evening of fellowship, reflection, and celebration as we honored the inaugural cohort’s success throughout the 2025–2026 school year. From classroom achievements and volunteer service to field trips, hands-on learning experiences, and personal growth, this first year has been filled with memorable moments and incredible accomplishments.

Thank you to our families and community partners for your continued support, encouragement, and investment in the future of healthcare leadership. The journey is only beginning, and the future is bright for our Healers!
