Essential tremor (ET) is a common neurological disorder, but we do not fully understand its causes and mechanisms. Most cases of ET are influenced by genetic factors, but no specific genes have been directly linked to it. Like other progressive neurological disorders, environmental factors likely play a role in the development of ET.
