Thanks to Alvin's amazing nurse, we were referred to the Beads of Courage website. This program gives special beads to children with chronic medical conditions, like Alvin.

Because our hospital doesn't participate directly, we are on the waiting list for the Beads in the Mail program. We will have a 6-12 month wait, UNLESS someone wants to be his Wingman!

What's a wingman? It's a special person who donates $100 through the link posted below.

If you choose to become Alvin's wingman, just click on the Donate to the Wingman Program button, then fill out the form. Then down where it says "Honor or remember someone with your gift?" Click on "Honor" and and put Alvin Rice in the "Whom do you want to recognize?" box. Then you can choose to notify us or not.

Anyone want to be his wingman?

Kids coping with serious illness need a WINGMAN to help them get their Beads of Courage. This includes over 400 children on the waiting list to get Beads in the Mail – some waiting several months or more.

Alvin turned 15! Hard to believe. He, of course, wanted to go to the Toughest Monster Truck Tour to celebrate.

It’s been a long time!

Since the last time we posted, Alvin has turned 14. He was officially diagnosed with nocturnal epilepsy and put on Keppra. We continue to monitor the lesion in his frontal cortex.

Mostly, he’s been enjoying life and refusing to be photographed, like a normal teenager.

Hard to believe, but Alvin will be 13 this year!!

Between quarantine, adjusting to virtual school, numerous doctor visits, being diagnosed with epilepsy, and a plethora of other issues, 2020 was a crap year for Alvin.

We would love for people to send him birthday cards to help make 2021 an amazing 13th birthday! Bonus if a patch (police, military, fire, ems, etc) can be included. (He collects patches)
