April 28 is Canada’s National Day of Mourning, a day where we pause to honour workers who have been killed, injured, or become ill because of their work, and those who continue to live with the impact of workplace tragedy.
At Associated Ambulance, this day is a reminder of why safety and support can never be taken for granted. Our paramedics and staff respond to difficult scenes, travel challenging roads, and carry the weight of what they experience in service to others.
We are committed to doing our part to protect them, through strong safety practices, ongoing training, and a culture where speaking up about risks and concerns is encouraged and supported.
We also recognize that the effects of this work are not only physical. The calls our teams attend can stay with them long after the unit returns to the station. That is why we continue to promote mental health resources, peer support, and space to talk about the emotional toll of this profession.
Today, we remember those who did not make it home, we stand with families, friends, and colleagues who grieve, and we reaffirm our commitment to the safety and wellbeing of everyone at Associated Ambulance.
