Hey Stronger Roots Community
We've been quite online for awhile because behind the scenes we've been working on something for Ohio (see below ✨)
There are moments when you realize that the work you’ve been doing, the stories you’ve been telling, and the voices you’ve been fighting to have heard may actually help create change.
Beth Bullock, representing Brave Choices, and Danielle Thinnes, representing Stronger Roots, had the privilege of participating in an Ohio statewide workgroup focused on domestic and sexual violence. We joined advocates, survivors, court professionals, healthcare providers, policymakers, and other leaders to help identify meaningful policy priorities aimed at better protecting victims and preventing violence.
The workgroup was convened by Senator Louis Blessing III and Representative Rachel Baker as part of an effort to develop actionable policy recommendations for Ohio.
Seeing our names and organizations included in this work means so much. We started this journey because we believed survivors deserved to be heard, believed, protected, and supported not just in conversations, but in the systems and laws that affect their lives.
We don’t know exactly where every recommendation will lead, but knowing that we had a seat at the table and an opportunity to contribute to conversations that could influence future Ohio policy is something we are incredibly proud of.
This is why we keep speaking up. This is why advocacy matters. And this is why survivor voices belong at the table. ❤️
