My name is Jonathan Lee and I am the President and original Founder of Walden Guitars. I created Walden Guitars in 1996 while I was building handmade guitars at CFOX Guitars, in the San Francisco area, USA. I had a major role in Walden’s design, construction, sales, marketing as well as managing our factory in China. Our team built the Walden brand into quite a respected brand with numerous positi

ve reviews, satisfied dealers and customers, and over 70 distributors worldwide. In 2014, KHS, Walden’s owner, decided to cease production and I moved on to work with Breedlove Guitars and Washburn Guitars. I always felt the Walden story was not over and in 2019 obtained all rights to Walden Guitars. Year 2020 marked our re-release of these fine instruments and I hope that you will be part of our continuing story. Our mission. Has always been to create guitars with the absolute best balance of Musicality, Stability, Cosmetics and Affordability; a merging of expertise in USA design and manufacturing with Asian efficiency and affordability. Design. A great guitar is informed by the whole, not any one feature or material. When the minutia come together to create an instrument that is “just right,” this is a Walden. It comes down to features that you can’t see such as Walden’s Graphite and glass-fibre reinforced necks (normally seen only on hand-made instruments) and Low-Mass voiced scalloped-X bracing resulting in instruments with a tonal complexity and immediacy that is exceptional. Premier features such as the Laskin/Ryan inspired ergonomic armrest bevel are built into select instruments. Trust. With our expertise in manufacturing and sourcing, we ensure cosmetic excellence and stability. Partnerships with D’Addario, Fishman Transducers, and Graphtech NuBone nuts and saddles & Ratio-tuned tuners further enhance the trustworthiness of a Walden. I invite you to take a walk through the following pages where you will find descriptions of Walden's 2020 lineup including some of our historically most popular models. It is my hope that you will find inspiration and that we work together once again. Welcome back! Sincerely,
Jonathan Lee

Setup is so individual, but we're looking for that Goldilocks sweet spot in Walden's designs. Dobtrdavid

Each and every independent guitar store still standing is worth celebrating. Meet Paul Tobias, owner at Tobias Music in Chicagoland. Paul is a great guy and friend to the Walden project. He has super high-end guitars to drool over- and if you can afford an American luthier-made guitar, by all means, you should get one. And get one from an indy dealer like Paul. (And if you can't afford one, Walden will get you all the tone for a tenth of the price. 😉)

Esteban Eligio Music is layering and juxtaposing the Walden D642RCEB-G and the O550E. Black vs. natural. Cutaway vs. not. Dreadnought vs. orchestra body. 12- vs 6- strings. Interestingly, both guitars are spruce top with mahogany back and sides.

We have a belief that Waldens actually sound even better when played outside. Something about the appreciation for nature in their namesake or the wood connecting back with trees, maybe. Here, Titus Major plays "Yeshua" on his G551E so beautifully.
