We’re in the final stretch for the 100 Miles in May challenge!
__
We ended up getting 15 participants on our team. We’ve had a handful of people complete their miles already so congrats to you. I am so proud of everybody who participated and stepped outside their comfort zone for this challenge.
__
I hope this put you on a path to be more active and I hope you found new ways to have fun. Even though the challenge is coming to an end, don’t lose momentum. Right now is the time to continue training and continue getting outside so you can enjoy the summer months.

Gold Nugget Triathlon 2026

The wait is over and it’s time to compete. You have been preparing for this special day and the time is finally here. Get out there and have fun!

I, René, will be out there representing The Natural Studio and providing snacks to participants as they cross the finish line. If you’re seeing this and competing make sure to stop by and say hi and grab some goodies from our booth.

We are well on our way into the 100 miles in May challenge. How did you adventure and get your miles this weekend?
__
Shoutout to all participants who have signed up and are getting more active. I see you and am inspired by you. I am excited to see how this challenge takes us outside our comfort zones toward a stronger and better version of ourselves.
__
This weekend I went to the mountains for a challenging hike and then did an easy jog on the coastal trail. I believe that in order to be successful with this challenge you have to have a variety of activities and a variety of intensities so that you can stay consistent. Remember the most important thing is to have fun!

This challenge is a fundraiser for the Healthy Futures program, which works to empower Alaska’s youth to build the habit of daily physical activity. It’s an excellent opportunity to encourage physical activity among employees, family, or friends, and role model healthy behavior for youth. As participants enter their exercise into a mileage converter, they can track their status on group, industry, and statewide leader reports!

Healthy Futures is the signature program of the Alaska sports Hall of Fame nonprofit organization. The goal is simple: Empower Alaska’s youth to build the habit of daily physical activity.

When was the last time you jumped??

When a client presents us trainers with a problem they’re having and want to solve, we break it down into actionable steps, find where they’re at in their progression, and work to improve from there.
__
This particular client wanted to jump, to see if she still could because she couldn’t remember the last time she had done it. She is almost 80 so it had been a long time since she last jumped. She also thought it would be fun, and knowing the health benefits of jumping we decided to work on it.
__
If you want stronger bones, healthier connective tissue, better reaction time, and more athleticism, then some sort of jumping training needs to be part of your routine. Bathe in Beauty

Here I am reading an excerpt from the book I’m reading (Stillness is the Key). The chapter is “Bathe in Beauty” and I felt inspired to share this because we often times can get lost in the ugly side of things and miss out on all the beautiful things that surround us.
__
It is a skill to find beauty in all the things that we do and see everything day, in all the things we may take for granted, in the people we interact with on a daily basis. There is beauty everywhere, but we must allow ourselves to see it and appreciate it.
__
At The Natural Studio we communicate with our clients about the importance of stillness and observation. Sure we mainly focus on physical fitness but that is one of many aspects of health. We guide our clients to find new perspectives so that we can improve in every area of our lives.
__

How do you breathe?
__
Sounds like a very simple question right? But that’s not always the case. Some people breathe through their mouth without even realizing it. Some take really shallow and fast breaths. Some even hold it for long periods of time. This all often times happens subconsciously but I’m here to help you bring awareness to it and reclaim your attention and take control of your nervous system.
__
The 4 steps are:

1. Clear your nose
2. Tongue in the “N” position
3. Close your mouth
4. Breathe through your nose
__
If you do this throughout the day and bring awareness to your breath you will start to tap into and eventually reclaim control of your attention, your focus, you can allow your nervous system to be more calm and feel more grounded. The breath is key in many stillness practices like meditation and in some gentle movements like yoga.
__

Train your cardiovascular system!

This is really not that complicated. Cardio does not have to be this big scary word that keeps you from being able to use your body to its full potential. An improved cardiovascular system will enhance just about every other system in your body and every area of your life. You just have to commit to do the work.
