Mason has this recovery thing all figured out.

Morning, meditation and stretching, getting outside and getting some air, spending time with family, and lots of cuddles.

We learned this in recovery. And it's really cool.

Not just a place.
The people. The chaos. The quiet moments. The ones sleeping next to us. The ones dramatically sighing on our laps.
These are the gifts on the path.
Healing didn’t just save our lives.

What a gift. Sitting in the Alaska lounge at the Seattle airport. I got to watch these two kids just love and watching airplanes fly.

Do you remember that? Back when everything was possible? We weren't so busy that we forgot to stop and just really watch airplanes fly.

It's really cool to be heading home.

People think healing looks like a quiet morning. A journal. A deep breath.
Sometimes it does.
Sometimes it looks like holding a grown man in fetal position while his body dry heaves out what it could no longer carry alone.
That is not weakness. Not breakdown. It’s a body finally trusting it’s safe enough to speak.
I didn’t fix it. I didn’t explain it. I stayed.
Because healing is not gentle. It’s the most courageous work a human being will ever do.
