I used to chase skinny because that’s all I knew.
I thought smaller meant healthier.
I thought eating less meant I was doing better.
I thought the goal was to take up as little space as possible.
But somewhere along the way, my definition of “healthy” completely changed.
Now I chase strength and health.
I chase the feeling of getting stronger in the gym.
I chase fueling my body instead of fearing food.
I chase building muscle instead of watching the scale go down.
I chase energy to keep up with my babies.
I chase a strong core, strong shoulders, strong legs and a body that can actually DO things.
I’ve spent years learning that my body is not something I need to constantly shrink, punish or apologize for.
My first bodybuilding prep taught me a lot. It taught me discipline, but it also taught me just how much goes into getting “stage lean.” And coming out of that experience, I realized I don’t want to spend my life chasing the leanest version of myself.
I want to build.
I want to eat meals with my family.
I want to lift heavy.
I want to enjoy food without guilt.
I want to be strong enough to deadlift heavy things and still have the energy to chase two little kids around. 😂
I want to build the physique I want—not simply lose the body I have.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to be lean.
But for me, health will always come before being skinny.
So this season?
I’m not chasing smaller.
I’m chasing stronger.
I’m chasing healthier.
I’m chasing better.
And honestly… I think this version of me is just getting started. 🤍💪🏼
