Ignite Powerfest was a blast and in an unexpected turn of events I got 3rd place in the masters division!
Huge shout out to Amanda Massey who did a ton of work on my injury the day prior to the event and I managed all my lifts nearly pain free. She is magic!
Even though this was way outside my comfort zone, I’m grateful to Coaches Alexis and Frank L**h for encouraging me every step of the way and for my training partner Kimberly (2nd place winner!). Her positive attitude kept me going!
I absolutely plan to keep going and get stronger.
If you are curious about strength training but worried you can’t do it I will 100% be your cheerleader! You can!

17 teams and 20k squats later, we raised $10k for The Hope Closet at the Squat-a-thon! My legs are definitely noticing the 277 squats I contributed. I would 💯 do this again!

3 months ago I couldn’t squat past parallel. Now I can do it with 200 lbs on my back. Training works! Ignite Powerfest is in a month. Think I can get 225?

And the Emmy goes to....well, not me. My new friend Ken Fay is a story teller and won this actual real Emmy for his work on a documentary about the aftermath of Sandy Hook told through the eyes of a dog. Ken is helping local businesses connect their heart-felt story to their audience. What an amazing skill! Hoping some of the Emmy magic rubs off on me. Thanks, Ken for this "winning" experience!
