A Scan That Made a Difference | Tammy’s Story
Tammy had recently received a normal 3D mammogram at a local dedicated breast center. She could have simply waited until her next annual screening, but she had recently heard about Sound Prevention Screenings and decided to take an additional step for her health. At 50, Tammy chose to have a comprehensive ultrasound screening, even though her mammogram had been normal. That decision changed everything.
During her ultrasound screening with Sound Prevention, a suspicious breast mass was detected. Further diagnostic testing confirmed that the mass was invasive ductal carcinoma.. breast cancer. Because Tammy was proactive and followed up quickly, her cancer was diagnosed at Stage 1. She did not need chemotherapy or radiation!
Tammy says she often wonders what might have happened if she had simply waited until her next annual mammogram. Would it have been caught at the same stage? She’ll never know. What she does know is that she listened to her instincts and chose to take an additional look.
Stories like Tammy’s are a reminder of why we do what we do. We’re so grateful she trusted us with her screening and, even more, that she has allowed us to share her story with others. 💗
