A new chapter. Five years ago, I began school to become a therapist. Now, I’m completing my MS in Clinical Mental Health, moving from intern to counselor. At times, this journey felt impossible. Today, it's incredibly real. I love welcoming people into this safe office where they can heal and grow. Thank you to everyone who got me here

I just want to share a reminder for anyone healing from narcissistic abuse: you are not broken beyond repair — you are reclaiming your power. 💪 Healing is not a linear path, and some days will be harder than others. But here are a few practical steps that helped me (and many others) rebuild self-worth and move forward:

Establish NO CONTACT or low contact — Limit exposure to the narcissist. It’s okay to protect your mental health by creating boundaries.

Therapy & Support — Find a trauma-informed therapist or support group. Speaking with others who understand emotional manipulation (gaslighting, love bombing, triangulation) makes a huge difference.

Self-care as a Necessity — This isn’t just “bubble baths.” It’s sleep, nutrition, rest, and doing things that bring you genuine joy.

Educate Yourself — Learn about narcissistic personality traits & how abuse works. Knowledge gives you power and helps you recognize patterns.

Journal Your Journey — Write down your thoughts, hurts, wins, and reflections. Over time, you’ll see how far you’ve come.

Build a Safe Network — Surround yourself with people who respect your healing, validate your experience, and encourage your growth.

Practice Compassion for Yourself — Self-forgiveness is huge. You didn’t deserve the abuse. You are worthy of love, safety, and peace.

Healing from narcissistic abuse doesn’t mean just surviving — it means thriving. ✨

If you want to talk, vent, or just know other people get it — drop a ❤️ or DM me. You’re not alone.

People with narcissistic traits often experience:

Fragile self-esteem: Narcissists have a fragile sense of self-esteem and an excessive need for admiration and validation. When confronted with relationship problems, they may interpret them as a threat to their self-image and ego. Discussing problems could mean acknowledging their own faults or mistakes, which they find difficult to accept.

Lack of empathy: Narcissists often lack empathy for others, which makes it challenging for them to understand or care about the emotional impact of their behavior on their partner. This lack of empathy can lead to a dismissive attitude towards relationship problems, as they may not recognize or prioritize their partner's feelings.

Fear of criticism: Narcissists are highly sensitive to criticism and often react defensively when faced with it. Discussing relationship problems may involve criticism or feedback, which can trigger their defensive mechanisms. To avoid feeling criticized or attacked, they may choose to avoid these conversations altogether.

Control and manipulation: Narcissists tend to seek control and power in their relationships. Avoiding discussions about problems allows them to maintain control over the narrative and manipulate situations to their advantage. By not engaging in problem-solving discussions, they can continue to manipulate and gaslight their partner.

Grandiosity: Narcissists often have an inflated sense of self-importance and believe they are superior to others. This grandiosity can lead them to believe that they are always right and that their partner's concerns or problems are irrelevant or beneath them. This mindset can make it difficult for them to engage in constructive problem-solving.

Lack of accountability: Narcissists often struggle with taking responsibility for their actions. Instead of acknowledging their mistakes and working to fix them, they may deny any wrongdoing or shift blame onto their partner. This avoidance of accountability can hinder productive discussions about relationship problems.

Are you still YOU?

Narcissists often engage in manipulative and controlling behaviors to erode their victims' identities. This process is part of a broader pattern of emotional abuse and manipulation that aims to maintain the narcissist's sense of superiority and control over their victim.

Repressing your feelings doesn’t make them go away. Unexpressed emotion will manifest in all kinds of toxic ways. Talk to someone. Journal. Scream. Cry it out. It’s all ok.
