The ocean became a regular part of my healing after my cancer diagnosis.

Walking by the water helped me reconnect with my breath and find a calmer headspace. My body responded in ways I could feel almost immediately, and those small changes supported me during a time when I needed it.

These walks showed me that healing can begin with a simple action. For me, it started with stepping outside and giving myself time to move in a way that felt natural. Nature offers its own kind of support when we make space for it.

In health,

Christine

There is something special about the healing power of animals. 🐾🐾🐴

Research has shown that Animal Therapy can help reduce stress, ease anxiety, foster connection, and support emotional well-being - https://connect-and-thrive.com/resources/animal-therapy/. Whether through interactions with horses or dogs, these experiences can provide comfort, companionship, grounding, and moments of joy during some of life’s most challenging seasons.

CAT offers Animal Therapy, including both equine and canine experiences, as part of its curated Marketplace. We are also working extraordinarily hard to bring our community together through meaningful opportunities for connection, healing, and support.

We are currently planning a special gathering on the Massachusetts coast for September 2026 and look forward to sharing more details as plans unfold.

What types of events, retreats, or community experiences would you like to see CAT offer? Please share your ideas in the comments. πŸ’›πŸ†πŸŒŸ

There is something about Crane Beach in Ipswich, MA that resets me (and always has); it is my safe haven.

The rhythm of the ocean 🌊
The sand dunes.
The sound of the waves crashing.
The salt air and negative ions that somehow make everything feel clearer.

This is where I come to recharge my mind, body, and spirit because nature heals.

Some days I spend hours moving along the shoreline and through the dunes. Along the way, I have crossed paths with deer 🦌, coyotes 🐺, seals 🦭, and snowy owls πŸ¦‰

This is also where I spread my late dog Windy’s ashes 🐾🐾

And this is where CAT was conceived!

Definitely not in a boardroom or behind a desk.

It happened out here in nature, reflecting on healing, suffering, connection, and what people truly need when facing cancer.

Nature works in harmony, and over time it became a reminder to me that we should treat our health the same way.

Places like this create room to let go of what no longer serves you.

They create room for perspective.
For clarity.
For possibility.

57 studies.

Thousands of cancer patients.

One factor kept predicting lower anxiety, fewer PTSD symptoms, and better quality of life across every phase of cancer.

Resilience.

Researchers define it as the ability to maintain or recover good mental health despite the stress of diagnosis and treatment. Not going back to who you were before. Becoming someone new.

Most people will miss this part.

Resilience is a skill you can build.

A 2024 meta-analysis found that structured psychological programs like mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral tools, meaning-making groups, and peer support measurably increased resilience while reducing anxiety and depression in cancer patients.

And the fuel behind it all is... Social support.

Research found that community support feeds resilience, and resilience feeds post-traumatic growth. Deeper relationships, a sharper sense of purpose, a renewed trust in yourself, and a fiercer appreciation for being alive.

Your people are the engine. πŸ’›

We built CAT's Marketplace around this science. Wellness, comfort, and recovery products curated for women with cancer are waiting for you. Link in bio. πŸ†

As an environmental engineer, I have spent my career evaluating the systems designed to protect both people and the environment.

Boardwalks help preserve fragile dune systems. Dunes help protect coastlines from erosion and storms. 🌊

The most effective protection is often quiet, intentional, and built to last.

This is where my personal and professional worlds meet. πŸ’›πŸ†πŸŒŸ
