I do have a special spot on my heart for teens with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, as my own daughter has POTS. We have taken a holistic and natural approach with great success. While not a cure and not perfect, she has made tremendous strides going from not being able to get out of bed as a Freshman in high school to just completing her first year of college and lives a beautiful, full and functioning life! My hope is that I can help other families who have teens with POTS do the same.

Love when the start of Hanukkah falls on Christmas Day. Not just because we celebrate both with our extended families but more so the feeling of knowing that around the world, today/tonight, bright lights are shining in so many homes creating an energy of calm and joy in so many hearts of people. May those beautiful bright lights of today shine upon the world for all days ahead and bring more joy and peace to all!

Took me until later in my adult years to truly learn this and live it. it really is liberating once you get to this place. My hope is that my daughters and the younger generations, learn and embody this early on and carry this power with them.

For full body wellness, I believe we can do “all the things” but if we don’t FIRST truly believe that we are worthy of living well and choosing a healthy lifestyle, it will make it harder for all those things to work. This starts by loving ourselves. Not comparing ourselves. Being ourselves.

Mindset/Mental Fitness is the first thing I help people with when we work together. Sometimes clients can get uncomfortable because they want the nutrition right away or the fitness plan. What I have learned is that “training” our brains is just as important, if not more so, as “training” our muscles. We must do the brain work to believe in ourselves and love ourselves. It truly makes all other aspects of health and wellness easier once you do!

We become our thoughts.

Cheers to the start of my favorite month and season of the year!
I love the crisp mornings and evenings, it’s my favorite time of year to decorate my house and porch, watching the leaves turn colors, looking up at the autumn night sky, having more firepit/smore nights, bundling up in sweatshirts and sweaters, watching Virginia Tech football (even if they get screwed with bad calls), all the aromas and tastes of autumn and it’s our anniversary month!

This is also the time of year (as opposed to in January) where my personal body clock has always been ready for deep reflection and growth in life. Partly due to the season, circadian rhythms and also the traditions of the Jewish high holidays of Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) and Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement/Reflection). I am not religious per say, but have always attached to the spiritual meaning behind these holidays. This is when I go into deep thought about how I want to show up each day, when I create new aspirations for myself and with my family, think about who I want to help serve in this world, taking a deeper look at my own outlook on life and to think about the little things I can do each day to live a calm, joyful, healthy and purposeful life and how I can help inspire others to do so their well-being which is such a passion/gift of mine. It’s also when I go into full creative mode with crafts but also with life. I feel this all even deeper this year, as I really transition into a full new season of life with both girls in college. Looking forward to see what I create in this next chapter. This time of year is often referred to as “change” but I prefer to see it as a time of renewal and growth.

I share this as inspiration to pause and embrace all October can bring to you as well. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the hurry of the upcoming months and amazing what can happen when we do slow down.

Just a little reminder for you that I am reminding myself often of these days.
Breathe.
Inhale.
Exhale.
We have one more wake up before taking Sarah to Virginia Tech to start her new chapter...and then we start ours. Lauren is already at school and can’t wait for Sarah to be there. Sarah is excited with natural nerves of course. Me....well, I have ALL the feels. I look around the house and get sad to think the girls won’t be here with their sounds, smells, humor, frustrating moments, in/out with friends, meals, etc. I found myself even sad that I won’t have finger prints on my fridge that I wipe down daily! Not buying their favorite snacks. Their bedrooms...empty until school breaks. And who is going to do Target walk-abouts with me?
I’m also excited for the girls! Excited for Lauren to be in her senior year (where in the world did the last 3 years go?!) and for Sarah to start her college experience. Excited for this new chapter for me and Eric and for me to put new energy and focus in areas of life such as my health coaching and crafting...and going through 20 years worth of pictures! AND, I also just keep getting flashes of the past 22 years of motherhood...especially from when the girls were little and just the carefree days. Holding on to the memories which help propel into the next phase of life. This is LIFE. We as parents spend our days and moments getting them to this point of flying off...some days harder than others but all moments get us here. I know Sarah is ready to fly, just as Lauren was. It is hard to let go, yet I feel a sense of being ready too. And, I feel myself ready to grow in new ways. We all know once you turn 50...the mindset of not giving F’s about things we did so before, opens up space for new energies.
So many FEELS!! So, I am reminding myself to take moments to simply, breathe! It is within us and often we forget, yet, it is one of the most magical healers for the body!
One suggestion of intentional breathe work:
Breathe in through the nose for 4
Hold for 5
Breathe out through the mouth for 6
Do this 4x

Here was dinner last night and an idea for you. Use any protein of your choice.

Two notes:
I wanted to grill the shrimp but I was so hot after playing pickle ball that I decided to skip grilling and sautéd the shrimp.
I usually add avocado to this salad but they weren’t quite ripe yet to use. Love avocado and peaches together.

Shrimp sautéed in olive oil, veggie broth and fresh squeezed lime.

Salad:
Arugula
Herb Mixed Greens (love this mix from Traders)
Green Onions
Cucumbers
Tomatoes
Sliced Peaches
Goat Cheese
Tossed with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and fresh squeezed lime juice (so much more healthy than store bought dressings which are typically full of ingredients you don’t need including inflammatory seed oils) You can even add a drop of Lime essential oil!

My daughter just left to go back to VATech after being home for a few days after her travels. Loved having her home and it really never gets easier to say “see you laters.” But I know she’s ready to be back to college living!

A few of her friends saw me post about these Peppermint Protein Bites on my Instagram story and asked her to bring some home so I made them a bunch! Love that they asked me. 🫶
These bites really are delish and packed with protein. Great to have on hand for a quick energy boost or a grab-n-go snack. Below is my recipe for the base of my protein bites and below that are ideas for flavors, including Peppermint.
Which one sounds yummy to you?

🍪1 cup organic oats (I use gluten free)
🍪2-6 dates (I didn’t have any on hand so left them out…optional but does add sweetness and fiber)
🍪1/4 cup almond butter (I love the Nuttzo brand with seeds and nuts)
🍪1-2 tbls raw local honey
🍪1 scoop protein powder (I use doTerra’s vegan vanilla)
🍪2 tbls each or of one: h**p seeds and ground flax seeds
🍪You can mix all above in food processor or in a bowl and mix by hand if you didn’t add the dates.
🤗When using a food processor, mix the oats a little first but not to a fine powder…you still want them to have the texture of oats; then blend in the chopped dates; then add everything else and blend.
🍪Stir in EnjoyLife Mini chocolate chips after blended.
🍪Add a little bit of purified water as needed for consistency to be able to roll into a ball.
🍪Roll into 1 inch balls; freeze for an hour;keep in freezer or fridge
Enjoy!!!

Add in the following depending on desired flavor:
🍫Chocolate: 2 tbls cacao
🍃Chocolate Mint: 2 tbls cacao; 3-5 drops doTerra Peppermint EO
🍋Lemon: 1 scoop doTerra Fiber Powder; 2 drops doTerra Lemon EO; Zest and Juice of one Lemon; 1 pack each of doTerra’s Recharge Electrolytes and Collagen
🍊Orange: 1 scoop doTerra Fiber Powder; 2 drops doTerra Wild Orange EO; Zest and Juice of one Orange; 1-2 packs of doTerra’s Collagen
🍁Autumn: Use the orange recipe and add in 2 drops of cinnamon and 2 drops of clove; 1 tbls pumpkin spice
🍒Cherry/Berry: 1 pack each of doTerra’s Recharge and Collagen

I’m so blessed to have you in my circle of life. You each are strong, beautiful, wise and oh so fun! My wish for you is that you recognize your unique greatness and you love all of you and celebrate that daily. Doing so is a gift to yourself!

A bit vulnerable of a personal truth…It took me 38 years (yes, that was a pivotal year in my life) to truly gain the understanding of self-love, acceptance and respect and to embrace the empowerment that self-love, acceptance and respect can have in my life. I am proud that I started to teach this concept to my daughters at an early age and pray they continue to grow to adore themselves as they enter adulthood. As a woman, mom of daughters and as a health educator and
, especially for teen girls and women, I don’t think there’s a better gift to give not only to yourself but to future generations of girls and young women and this becomes the foundation of wellness!
