🌱 EVERYTHING LIVING NEEDS HELP SOMETIMES

Today my son came over, and we spent time repotting some of my biggest plants. They had outgrown the spaces they were in. Their leaves were limp, their roots needed attention, and they needed more room to grow.

And of course, I thought I could handle it myself. 😂

But God had a different plan.

My oldest son showed up, went to Walmart with me for soil and supplies, and stayed to help me with the plants that were simply too big for me to manage alone. He cleaned the roots, helped me reposition them, tied them up for support, and gave them what they needed to stand strong again.

And somewhere in the middle of all that dirt, I received the message. 🌱

Sometimes you don’t need to try harder. Sometimes you need help.

Even the strongest living things can outgrow the space that once held them. Sometimes our roots need tending. Sometimes we need more room. And sometimes we need somebody to hold us steady while we get replanted.

Everything that has breath carries Àṣẹ — life force, power, energy. And even with all that power, we were never meant to do everything alone.

Today I helped my plants grow, my son helped me, and life reminded me that receiving help is part of growing too. 👑🌿

☁️ SIMPLE. BEAUTIFUL. 🤍

Sometimes happiness really is this simple.

A beautiful space.
A moment to dream.
A genuine smile.
And the freedom to let your inner child look up at the clouds and imagine again. ☁️✨

Life has been heavy lately, so I’m learning not to overlook the moments when joy finds me.

I don’t need everything figured out to smile.
I don’t need everything perfect to feel beautiful.
I can simply be present, grateful, soft, and ME. 👑

These pictures feel like a reminder that there is still beauty above the heaviness.

The artist invokes nkisi nkondi (Kikongo for "power figure"), a precolonial Kongolese sculptural tradition that fends off evil spirits and punishes wrong-doers. This work is part of a series on Black girlhood that undertakes a redress of the prominence of white marble in Neoclassical sculpture. The girl's heads create a fearsome persona in keeping with nkisi, while her eclectic, chaotic form perhaps comments on Western ideals of beauty.

🎶 “Tell Him” — Lauryn Hill

Today I’ve been thinking about the corrections life gives us.

Not punishment.
Not failure.
Correction. Redirection. Alignment.

There were times I was absolutely convinced I knew where I was going, who belonged beside me, what I needed, and how my life was supposed to unfold.

Baby… I did NOT. 😂

And now I can give thanks for some of the things that didn’t work.

The relationships that changed.
The doors that closed.
The uncomfortable lessons.
The seasons that forced me to sit with myself.
Even the moments when Spirit said, “No ma’am… not that way.” 😂👑

Because every correction brought me closer to myself.

As I get older, my relationship with my higher power has become less about asking for everything I want and more about asking:

Guide me toward what is for me.
Correct me when I’m moving out of alignment.
Give me discernment when I can’t see clearly.
And give me enough faith to trust the redirection.

That’s what Tell Him by Lauryn Hill feels like to me today—love, surrender, faith, and allowing something greater than myself to guide me.

I’m learning that showing up as my best self doesn’t mean showing up perfect.

It means showing up correctable. Teachable. Open. Grounded.

And sometimes the greatest blessing isn’t getting what you prayed for.

Sometimes it’s realizing later why you didn’t.

So today I’m sitting in gratitude for every correction that brought me here.

For every ancestor who covered me.
For every spiritual lesson that grounded me.
For every no that protected me.
For every yes that expanded me.
And for the wisdom to finally recognize the difference.

I am still becoming.
Still listening.
Still being corrected.
Still being guided.
And still giving thanks. 👑

May you trust the redirections in your own life. Sometimes what feels like being moved away from something is actually guidance bringing you closer to yourself.

NEW POLICY UPDATE. 📋✨

I’ve decided I’m reframing the word “boundaries.”

I don’t have boundaries anymore.

I have POLICIES. 😌

Because somewhere along the way, the word boundary became something people thought was negotiable.

“I know you said you don’t do that, but…”
“Can you make an exception?”
“You’re being difficult.”
“That’s just how I am.”
“But we’re family…”
“But we’ve been friends forever…”

Nope.

Companies have policies, and nobody stands at the register arguing that the return policy should change because it hurts their feelings. 😂

So going forward, I’m treating ME like a company worth protecting.

My time has a policy.
My energy has a policy.
My availability has a policy.
My relationships have policies.
My home has policies.
My peace DEFINITELY has a policy.

And here’s the biggest difference:

A policy doesn’t require you to understand it in order for me to enforce it.

You don’t have to agree.
You don’t have to like it.
You don’t even have to understand it.

You simply get to decide whether you can operate within it.

And just like any business, policies may be reviewed and updated—but management makes that decision. 😂

I AM MANAGEMENT. 👑

This season of my life isn’t about building higher walls. It’s about becoming clearer about the terms and conditions for having access to me.

So please govern yourself accordingly. 😂📋

✨ So Fresh & So Clean, Clean✨

Today’s fit is matching the ENERGY. ❤️🐆👟

A little red.
A little leopard.
A little orange.
And a WHOLE lot of me. 😂

But being fresh and clean isn’t just about what you put on.

At this stage of my life, FIT means taking care of my body, my mind, my spirit AND my peace.

Fresh is waking up and being grateful for another day.

Clean is keeping my energy clear and not carrying things that don’t belong to me.

Fit is moving my body, drinking my water, laughing, resting when I need to, and taking care of the woman carrying me through this life.
