PCOS doesn’t always look the way you think it does 👀
Missed or irregular periods are just one piece of the puzzle. Other signs can be subtle, including weight gain, blood sugar instability, mood changes, anxiety, irritability, trouble focusing, joint pain, rashes, hair loss, and acne.
And there’s more to the condition than the ovaries. The term PMOS, or Polycystic Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome, reflects a growing understanding of the metabolic component involved. Insulin resistance and changes in how the body processes glucose can play an important role in the condition and may contribute to many of the symptoms people experience.
That’s why looking beyond reproductive symptoms and considering the full metabolic picture can be so important. If something feels off, even if you don’t have every “classic” symptom, it’s worth having a conversation with your provider.
