One thing Iโ€™ve learned is that people make some wild assumptions about how others sustain their lives overseas. ๐ŸŒ

A lot of people simply canโ€™t imagine living abroad without being rich, retired, or โ€œhaving someone taking care of themโ€ because they canโ€™t picture that life for themselves.

The truth? There isnโ€™t just one way to build a life overseas.

Thatโ€™s exactly why I created Kee to the World โ€”to share practical ways to sustain yourself abroad, from remote work and career pivots to planning, budgeting, and creating a lifestyle that actually works for you.

If youโ€™ve ever been curious about living, working, or simply exploring life beyond your home country, Iโ€™d love to have you on this journey with me.

One thing I've learned is that some people will spend hours discussing your reaction and almost no time discussing what happened before it.

Now, I'm not claiming to be perfect.

I've made mistakes.

I've been wrong.

I've had moments where I wasn't easy to deal with.

But I've also noticed how quickly some people rewrite the story when accountability enters the conversation.

Suddenly you're difficult.

Suddenly you're bitter.

Suddenly you're toxic.

And sometimes the person being described isn't your actual character.

It's the version of you that emerged after years of frustration, disappointment, disrespect, or emotional exhaustion.

That's a difficult truth.

And it's also why boundaries matter.

What do you think?

One thing Iโ€™ve noticed while living abroad is how differently people experience community.

Many Black Americans grow up in environments where speaking, acknowledging people, and creating familiarity is normal.

But every Black person abroad isnโ€™t Black American.

People come from different countries, cultures, experiences, personalities, and expectations around social connection.

And sometimes what feels like rejection may simply be a lack of alignment.

This conversation isnโ€™t about division.

Itโ€™s about nuance.

Itโ€™s about understanding how identity, burnout, hypervigilance, self-perception, and cultural experiences can shape the way people move through the world.

The full conversation is coming soon on The Kee Frequency Podcast.

What are your thoughts?

Lately, Iโ€™ve been noticing more conversations about dating abroad, in*******al relationships, desirability, visibility, and whoโ€™s supposedly โ€œwinningโ€ overseas.

But the more I observe, the more I think some of these conversations are about much more than dating.

I think loneliness plays a role.

I think heartbreak plays a role.

I think reinvention plays a role.

I think moving abroad can amplify feelings people already have about themselves, their identity, their confidence, their relationships, and their sense of belonging.

And sometimes what weโ€™re noticing around us isnโ€™t just about what weโ€™re seeing.

Itโ€™s also about what weโ€™re feeling.

Thatโ€™s what makes this conversation so interesting.

What do you think?

The version of me that tolerated nonsense is gone.

Not because I became cold.

Not because I stopped caring.

But because eventually I realized that peace felt better than potential.

There was a time when I normalized inconsistency, confusion, emotional exhaustion, and situations that constantly disrupted my peace. I told myself I was being patient. Understanding. Loyal.

Looking back, a lot of it was survival mode.

Now I value clarity.

I value boundaries.

I value mutual effort.

I value emotional safety.

And Iโ€™ve learned that healing sometimes looks like becoming unavailable for what once felt familiar.

Welcome to Soft Truth Sundays.

This summer, weโ€™ll have honest conversations about healing, boundaries, identity, freedom, reinvention, loneliness, self-awareness, and the things people donโ€™t always say out loud.

Question:

Whatโ€™s one thing you no longer tolerate that you used to make excuses for?
