POTS is something real in my life: who can relate? Took me a long time to realize these tools but I use most of these to survive! Spread awareness as it isn’t talked about enough- Thepotswhisperer great post ❤️

Daily things that actually help POTS

if your symptoms feel all over the place… this is why

POTS isn’t just one thing
it’s how you manage your body ALL day long
It’s exhausting and trust me I get it

here’s what actually can help day to day:

• drink fluids plus increase salt
this helps your blood volume

• eat smaller meals
big meals can make you feel dizzy and completely wiped out. I do better with lighter frequent meals

• pay attention to triggers
carbs, caffeine, dairy, gluten, alcohol
and everyone is different so keep that in mind

• avoid standing still too long
even just standing in line can set symptoms off

• try compression (especially waist high)
it helps your blood circulate better

• be careful with heat
hot weather and hot showers can flare symptoms fast

• elevate your head when you sleep

• mornings can be rough
hydrate before you even get up and take it slow

• exercise matters but the RIGHT kind
jumping into intense workouts can actually make things worse

• keep a “go bag”
water, salt, snacks, meds
whatever you need so you don’t crash when you leave the house

• learn your patterns
your flares aren’t random, your body is reacting to something

this is why so many of us “look fine”
but are constantly managing everything behind the scenes. I had someone tell me the other day that I seem to be doing well with my POTS but it took years for me to learn all of this and plan outings and social events and I still end up needing a recovery period even when I do things right and that’s perfectly okay

living with POTS is a balancing act
there’s no perfect routine
no perfect treatment!

you can do everything right
and still have a flare
and that doesn’t mean you did anything wrong
it just means your body needed more support that day

we’re all just figuring out how to work with our bodies
and do the best we can with what we’ve got

Hi friends. It’s my birthday week!! This year I’ve been thinking about my career goals and my health more than ever!

I wanted to share my personal experience as it’s been a whirlwind for me with all the challenges in recent years!

I’ve decided to take my own advice, strategies, and interventions- which is extremely hard!

💛Putting things down to rest and take care of my own heart, mind, and nervous system is very very difficult for someone engrained to have survival and hustler in their DNA.

I’m learning it’s a process …It will make me a better therapist… And improve my health! I want to put more focus in my time with families and reaching larger audiences. As a result that means taking a step back from some of my current roles and positions that I hold. Yes that was plural. I work entirely too much. I play hard but I work very hard and I’m starting to realize that that does take a toll.

I hope to open up my creativity and put my heart into things that light me up. Enjoying glimmers in every day. As well as being present for the small things. And finding ways to help families in their everyday routines and lifestyle with bigger impact!

Resting is hard, but we all need it at some point. I am trying to rest and recoer but also create a new slower norm. Wish me luck 🥂 my last week of 41!

Spending this awesome Monday off finishing up this course!
Loving it Miss Jaime, O.T. Thank you for putting all the visual info into this course - organizing what many of us have learned in chunks! Well worth the time and money ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ check it out OT friends!

Robert and I are beyond excited to welcome all the incredible OTs, COTAs, and therapists who have joined Eyes First over the last few days. Seeing so many of you ready to refine your skills and finally "crack the code" on vision is exactly why we built this.

The energy inside the private community is building up to be something amazing.

We’ve got therapists from all over and we can't wait for you all to start sharing your "aha" moments. There is nothing better than seeing this profession level up together.

But wait—if you’re seeing this and haven’t joined yet, don't worry. You haven't missed the boat... yet. You still have time to grab your seat, join the conversation, and get the exact tools you need to stop the "vision guesswork" for good.

The clock is ticking, though! 🚨 Enrollment officially ends on February 18th. 🚨

After that, the doors lock and Robert and I will be focusing 100% on our current students. If you want to be part of this cohort and transform your practice before the school year ends, now is the time.

Ready to join the movement?

💬 Comment EYES FIRST below and I’ll send the link directly to your DMs!
🔗 Or click the link in my bio to secure your spot before the 18th!

Let’s do this! 👁️💪

We have to acknowledge its impact and work on the nervous system or we are missing it as “sensory OTs”!
