The FDA spent years studying why pulse oximeters work differently on different skin tones. Last month, the results came back "confusing."

After testing 631 patients, researchers still can't agree on how to fix the problem. Meanwhile, the FDA's proposed new rules from 2025 remain stuck in draft form.

Here's the thing: you can't regulate your way out of a physics problem. Traditional pulse oximeters measure light absorption, and melanin absorbs light. That's not a bug to fix. It's a design limitation.

That's why at Hemorai, we use a completely different approach. Our technology measures how light bounces off moving blood cells, not how much gets absorbed. The result? Accurate readings regardless of skin tone.

Exciting News! 🎉 Hemorai Wins Digital Health Sandbox Challenge!

We are thrilled to announce that Hemorai has been awarded $50,000 in the prestigious Women in Digital Health Sandbox Challenge, alongside MAE and Simplifed. This recognition underscores our commitment to innovating maternal healthcare and developing cutting-edge technology to address Postpartum Hemorrhage (PPH).

Our pioneering wearable device utilizes advanced Speckle Plethysmography (SPG) technology to provide accurate, real-time monitoring of blood volume changes, ensuring timely detection and intervention for PPH. This award will help us continue our mission to improve maternal health outcomes and promote health equity. The funds will be used to complete clinical validation under the direction of the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

"Every Two Minutes, a Woman Dies During Pregnancy or Childbirth: UN Report Reveals Urgent Need for Quality Healthcare"

A new report by United Nations agencies has revealed that a woman dies during pregnancy or childbirth every two minutes. The report shows that maternal deaths either increased or stagnated in nearly all regions of the world, highlighting the urgent need for high-quality, respectful healthcare for every woman and girl. Maternal deaths continue to be concentrated in the world's poorest parts and countries affected by conflict. While progress has been made in some regions, progress is threatened by underfunding of primary healthcare systems, a lack of trained healthcare workers, and weak supply chains for medical products. Roughly a third of women do not receive essential pre-and postnatal care, while 270 million women lack access to modern family planning methods. The report also warns that the COVID-19 pandemic may have further hindered maternal health progress. Urgent action is needed to ensure that every mother has access to lifesaving care.
