Texas entrepreneur and optometrist turned investor, building businesses across central Texas and now backing ventures from Boise while staying connected to the Austin community. About Dr. Tony Jacob: Entrepreneur, Investor, and Philanthropist
Dr. Tony Jacob is a distinguished entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist who has transformed from a small-town optometrist into a successful business le
ader, now operating as Chairman of RORHRO Ventures in Boise, Idaho. Dr. Tony Jacob graduated with honors from the University of Houston - College of Optometry in 2008 and began his career working in various locations across Texas. In 2010, Tony made the leap from doctor to entrepreneur and achieved an impressive $1 million in sales within the first 18 months of launching his company, which included his first optometry practice in Lockhart, Texas. His systematic approach to scaling businesses culminated in what became the largest private sale in the state of Texas for an optometry business when his company was acquired in 2021. Following his successful exit, Dr. Tony Jacob now heads RORHRO Ventures, a family office specializing in private investments, real estate, and alternative assets. He focuses on investments in emerging markets, including cryptocurrency, AI, and traditional sectors such as oil and gas. "The key to successful scaling lies in building the right team and implementing systems that can handle exponential growth," Dr. Tony Jacob said during the interview. His investment approach emphasizes thorough due diligence and strategic team building, lessons learned from his entrepreneurial journey. Dr. Tony Jacob has become a prominent advocate for the adoption of Bitcoin. "I think Bitcoin will become the world currency in 20 years. That's something people fight me on," he revealed. Unlike many who approach cryptocurrency with short-term trading mindsets, Tony perceives fundamental shifts in how value can be transferred across borders, stored over time, and resist manipulation by centralized authorities. "I think looking at crypto from a philosophical standpoint, I think it's the way that humanity is probably going to head towards because it's simply better money. And I think ultimately, and again, philosophically, I think it's better for the entire planet", he explained. Tony is deeply committed to environmental philanthropy, contributing to tangible projects like ocean cleanups and large-scale reforestation efforts, including initiatives aimed at combating desertification. His latest contribution to others includes a reforestation project near the Sahara. When it comes to bringing ideas to life, I spend a lot of time upfront doing my due diligence and really thinking things through before jumping in. I like to understand if an idea is really going to work. Once I decide it's worth pursuing, I move quickly, test things out, and pivot if needed. The advice I'd give my younger self is to spend more time really getting to know people on a deeper level. I used to trust what people said at face value without digging into what made them tick or why they did what they did. Dr. Tony Jacob's message to aspiring entrepreneurs is clear: "Bet on yourself. Take risks, build something, and don't be afraid to walk away when the time is right". Through RORHRO Ventures and his philanthropic efforts, he continues to support forward-thinking businesses while making a positive environmental impact globally.
