I have walked this path. 17 years from beginning of issues to official diagnosis. Then I walked away.

I took my healing into my own hands and I am determined to fix myself or die trying 💯 I am on zero prescription medications. I am a full decade past that diagnosis, and overdue of their prediction of "permanent disability" by seven full years.

In my own body, I have learned how to navigate genetic mutations, a lifelong lasting birth injury, the removal of significant amounts of intestine due to doctor mistake at the time I was 5. I have been all the way up to death's door, with a doctor looking me in the eyes and telling me, "I'm not sure how you are here under your own power."

Sheer determination.

I dont fit the mold. What works for others rarely works for me. I have to work with my own system to find answers and I do.

I'm blessed this body has forced me to learn skills on how to untangle complexities that I now use to help others. I'm blessed to do well for them, and to be trusted with referred family and friends regularly.

My next goals are to teach others how to navigate the world this way for themselves.... because God knows that I need what is right for me, and you need what is right for you. The more consistently we make choices in the direction our body leans, the more steps we take towards wellness and optimal function for our particular self.

There is no shortcut. Getting better happens one day at a time, much like getting worse did. Some days we leap forward. Others we fall off a cliff. Every day, our job is to keep putting one step in front of the other, with our inner compass locked on "best thing for me".

Yesterday marks one year since I moved to Ohio. Today I am reflecting a bit on this journey.

There is both pride and grief inside me. I wish I didn't have to leave that life behind, but I reached the point I felt I had no choice. I am proud of what I have built, but I am still in this in-between space of what was before and what is becoming.

My body feels better than it has in a lot of years, and my heart some days feels too heavy to hold. I am learning to become steady on my own two feet, and I do not yet know completely how to do it.

Some transitions are hard but necessary, and this was one of them. I do not know what the next year holds. I know I'm going to keep growing, keep building, keep dreaming and keep grieving because life has never been a neat little package that contains only what we want. I'm going to show up as my authentic self, and keep taking steps forward, reaching a hand out to help those who need a hand. I'm going to be real about this journey and I will never pretend that you have to only be positive, that having a bad day is proof you didn't do something right, that you can create a high enough vibration that you'll never struggle again.

No bs here, just compassion aligned with reality, and cultivation of inner strength to ride the storms and come out the other side more balanced and more resilient.

Is the path of healing and growing easy? No. It is not for the feint of heart.

Is it worth it? Yes. I've had more beauty and softness in my life this last year than I think I've ever experienced and I'm ready for more of it.

The question I'm working on answering in my life now is... how good can this get? How good can I make my life be, regardless of what happens to me?

I think that is a question worth answering. Thank you for being with me on this journey. It is an honor and blessing to walk the healing path alongside you.
