Some days look different than we planned, and that’s ok. Since Raegan’s sickle cell pain crisis shifted from her arm to her leg, we haven’t been able to get out for any activities since coming home from the hospital. So I decided to bring the activities to her.

I turned our classroom/office into a full art + activity room for the summer, and today we made slime together. And fun fact about Raegan — she’s the slime expert. Even on the hard days, she finds a way to shine.

We’re taking it slow, finding joy where we can, and making memories right here at home.

Today it was 10am, and I was still running on the three times I was up overnight — adjusting Raegan’s BiPAP, responding to her feeding pump, making sure she was comfortable. The sounds alone tell the story. This is our normal right now.

If you had told me four years ago that this would be our life, I wouldn’t have believed you. Life can shift so fast. One moment you’re planning for the future, and the next you’re learning medical equipment, fighting insurance, and doing whatever it takes to keep your child safe and cared for.

I never imagined I’d be fundraising just to cover the medical needs insurance doesn’t touch. But here I am — a mom doing everything she can for her daughter.

When I tell y’all life does NOT pause for medical emergencies… this video says it all. I tried to talk to the “light bill” about Raegan’s upcoming aneurysm procedures, the time her dad will need to take off work, and how we might be a little short when that time comes. And the light bill basically said: “That’s not my problem. Pay me or enjoy candlelight.”

THIS is why we’re fundraising.
Because while we’re preparing for serious procedures, long hospital stays, and making sure Raegan has both of her parents by her side… the bills keep billing. The world keeps spinning. And nothing stops just because our child is sick.

Every popcorn order, every share, every repost helps us stay ahead of moments like this. Thank you for helping us bridge the gap that real life and insurance leave behind.

Grocery store adventures with my girl always hit different. Raegan hopped on one of the motorized carts and drove us through the aisles like a determined CEO on wheels. She did so well overall — and we laughed the entire time as she learned how to navigate.

Between her figuring out the turns and my overstimulated brain trying to guide her, it was pure comedy. But honestly… it was also joy. Just us, making a simple everyday task feel like an adventure. These are the moments I hold close.

Every summer we make it a point to keep Raegan’s mind sharp, curious, and blooming — and the library is one of our favorite places to do just that. From activities to summer reading to simply getting lost in stories, it’s become a space where she lights up.
