In 🇯🇴, a 15% increase in the specific and tiered excise components of the tax would generate revenue & save lives 📈

A 🆕 from Jordan University of Science and Technology JUST & Social Policy and Development Centre finds that this scenario would:

⬇️ decrease cigarette consumption by ~5%,
⬆️ increase tax revenue by more than JOD 116 million, &
🚫 prevent 43,882 premature deaths compared to the status quo.
