After a 37-year-old man died in a dirt bike crash on Tuesday night, Mayor Brandon Scott said Wednesday that his office wanted to address the root causes of dirt bike injuries — if not through increased police response, then perhaps through legislation.

Dirt bike riding has long been popular in Baltimore, and Scott said the tradition, though illegal, is likely “not going anywhere.” During the summer, large groups of riders often crowd the streets of the Inner Harbor and Federal Hill.
