Hello neighbors and foraging friends,

We were mentioned in the News Item paper this week after our updated presentation at City Hall Workshop, about the Pearl and Spruce Street station. It has been an honor to collaborate with ’s program and , & course. The MI&D Course was a big success for me in designing Foraging Friends Website. Bringing my ideas to life, consulting with me about the concepts, colors, design and feel of the site. They were a delight to see, young adults moving forward with their career in such an authentic human and professional way. Truly happy for whatever business get them to work for them! Treat them well!

I am sharing Forging Friends’ Website, just note, I am filling in all the content, since the Bucknell Student turned it over to me this week. Needless to say, It has been a busy start into Spring. Going out to the spot in all types of weather, even hail at one point. That was funny and we took it as a stopping point on that day.
I will continue to post here on Facebook, but the bulk of foraging information especially events will be more accessible for individual and group to schedule and book foraging educational walks. https://foraging.wixsite.com/friends

Here is an outline of the website and Coming foraging fun!

Hello Friends!

Are you ready for the ? I hear you saying, "Michele, hasn't officially finished!" The way these days are speeding by...I just thought I'd throw that out there, especially since the energy has been so high, for lack of a better word! Summer is quickly approaching! I am a sunshine nature person, for sure.

Maybe it's that I just hit the big 60, maybe it's the energy of the year of the fire horse? Whatever, "it" is, I know I'm not the only one feeling it. There is much comfort in that we are all in this together.

With that, I want to invite you to look at your calendar and Foraging Friends' Calendars below and for the next few seasons. If any of these dates align with you, then I welcome you to come along and allow us to be your Foraging guides. We'll learn and grow our community together.

Our website will be up by the end of May beginning of June. I am excited to share the site with everyone. The University Business web designers were phenomenal! I am so grateful that they picked Foraging Friends to work with. Events for you to RSVP will migrate to the website. In the meantime. Take a gander at May 2026 calendar. Friday and over the weekend look on the events page for exact times, the registration forms, and locations that will be emailed after completing your registration.

Bountiful harvest

Michele

Hello Foraging Friends today, I'm sharing about how I include stinging nettle into my spices. This is a really simple way to add nutrients to your food, and you can, experiment and adapt to your own needs. Dandelion and plantain are some others to try.
If you're like most people, you love flavor in your foods. Depending on what part of the world you're from will determine the intensity of the flavor profile. Also, the contraindications of each plant needs to be considered as well as its benefit benefits.

One way to get flavor without salt is carmelization. They take a little time to prepare but if you prepare a large batch, then you can reach for them when you want to include them in different dishes, Just slowly cook sliced or chopped onions on an medium flame with olive oil, things until they are a golden, brown.

I roast all my vegetables for soups, it unleashes vegetables true potential.
This is true for tomatoes, actually dried tomatoes are better for you! If you can dehydrate some and remove the seeds that will be very beneficial, when limiting acidic foods or nightshades. Because of that, I rarely have tomatoes, but I do love the tart, acidity they impart. Bruschetta is my favorite Italian hors d'oeuvres, and I can make a meal out of an hors d'oeuvre! When using ingredients that are on your limited list, this type of cuisine is the perfect way to have them and get their benefits. .

What I used
Wasa whole Wheat Crackers
Ripe Avocado(mashed for spreading)
Chopped tomatoes (seasoned with garlic, onions, basil and nettle)
H**p hearts

For ummami I couldn't live without caramelized onions. They I love when I make a batch and just add them to sandwiches, spreads, you name it. It makes everything bland come to life.

Hosta's ( the white/purple and scallion shape veg. in the pan) adds a complex flavor to the onions and peppers mix here. From picking, washing, sautéing and devouring. I opted to fold this blend into a soft omelette, it's a very Satisfying meal, loaded with high vitamin A and C from the Hosta, which adds to the beta carotene in the orange and yellow peppers as well.

Vitamin A helps eye sight,(night vision in particular) and vitamin C helps with collagen and building cells as well as keeping back the scurvy lol! Scuvy is such silly word, don't get it!!
Thank you to my son, who shared this really good video on vitamins and their connected functions to the body.

Mostly, thank you to Mother Earth for the gift of green edibles, in my garden.

Happy Spring and Happy foraging.

Thank you Black Forager Nicole, I am not always able just after seeing something to have an immediate input. Here’s my thoughts briefly on this topic, which she eloquently presents in this video. Personally I don’t know that permits are the way to go, because will that curtail, select people who are going overboard for whatever reason, from continuing and still getting a permit. Those who are consciously aware, having to jump a hurdle, alongside those already in place.
I have an issue with lumping everyone to pay for the foolishness of others. The one who does the deed should pay for disrespecting a natural aspect of living, such as being able to have access to food, take care of our immediate environment and each other. https://www.facebook.com/reel/1650509666154500/?mibextid=rS40aB7S9Ucbxw6v

I love when you talk the genus names and details, details of identification, to me. 😊Say what!! Plant some! You don’t have to tell me twice!

I have to say “A lot a lot” of flora goes through my mind before, Spring. But dandelion is still King!

Hello neighbors and foraging friends,

We invite you to share your thoughts on a neighborhood-centered vision for the vacant lot at Pearl and Spruce Street (the old rail yard/lumber lot).

Sometimes, repeated disappointments can lead to despair, anger, and frustration. However, we heard encouraging ideas and thoughts for the future of the space during our survey walk. Changes often come from small, consistent efforts. Help us with this change and share your vision.

Below is the link to the survey. Thank you for contributing to this effort.
